I thought people were saying that Herro is going to go to prep school for a year and then to a blue blood? If that's true then it makes sense why Self and Co visited him.

Didn't Herro and/or his dad threaten to go to prep school this year if Whitnall didn't fire their coach last spring, which they did.

That would make sense considering they allegedly wanted the coaching change last year and when it didn't happen he decided to have an elective knee procedure.
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

If grimes does commit to MU who would wojo cut?

Likely no one. When was the last time we went an off-season without a transfer? I honestly can't remember.

I think this was covered before, and I forgot what the outcome of this discussion was buuuut what about taking one of the guys who has a 3.8gpa etc and give them an academic scholarship for the year?

Lol.  Sometimes it's best not to hit SEND or SUBMIT.

What about just asking the NCAA if they can float us another scholly for the year?

Oh, I was genuinely curious because I don't know if that's a possibility or not. So a walk on can't be awarded an Academic Scholarship if he is a 4.0 student?

Genuinely curious... But I appreciate your super helpful response.

Is one of the coaches adopting a player (thus getting free tuition) out of the question?

Let's worry about that in April 2018.  In the meantime, it would almost assuredly take care of itself one way or another.  Moving along....

Definitely see your point but QG has gone on record many times as saying he wanted to be seen as a priority for the coaching staff: something only MU has followed through on relative to KU and UK.  ESPECIALLY when they've turned around and recruited guys at HIS position.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't ever recall Joey stating that as a big criterion in his decision.

It's not a possibility. Neither is giving someone a track scholarship, neither is putting someone on medical hardship (scholarship still counts) and neither is having the Head Coach adopt a player.  Did I miss any?

From the KU board: "if Grimes wants to be the man why would he go to Marquette where no one will see him play and even less people will care?"

I think I've changed my reasoning for wanting Grimes from 'wanting him at my alma mater to win more basketball games / see another MUBB'er in the league' to 'wanting him to pass on Kansas to see the resulting shitstorm on that board.'  God damn't that is the most arrogant group of fans I've ever read, and I've stumbled upon a few Duke and UK boards in my day.

Turn someone into a walk-on who pays 100% of his tuition, room and board, and books with student loans, and have the Financial Aid office "mysteriously" lose the paperwork.
Have some patience, FFS.

You quoted the only poster who really ripped on Marquette.  It was immediately followed by someone saying "Please, if Grimes goes to Marquette people will see him play and people will care. That's a good fan base."

Kansas fans are confident because they are used to landing players like Grimes and because they have a successful program.  I didn't see much arrogance there.

Someone should remind him that outside of Andrew Wiggins, KU's crop of NBA players is pretty unimpressive.  They've got a few more end of hte bench types than MU, but Marquette's NBA talent is far superior to Kansas' at the top.
