KU hosting Langford this weekend. How many guys can they take?  We're offering the keys to the castle, why would anybody think the easier path to the pros is at a crowded guard crop at KU as compared to a starting PG at a Big East school.  If you're good enough the pro scouts will find you. The notion of going to a blue blood to get the pros (better path) doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Would Fox or Monk have been drafted had they gone to other power 5 schools. I kind of think so.

I think we're starting to see a few more five stars realize that but the blue blood schools and coaches have a reputation from the pre 1 and done era that basically meant if you were that good you needed to be coached up by the coaches that were the next step from NBA, playing against a talent pool that was all nba caliber, and gain exposure from a school that was guaranteed to be on cable.

Now days you're already marked for the pros from HS so coaching really doesn't matter, basic cable isn't only showing high profile teams so they can get exposure at most schools in a power conference or national brand. Really outside of practicing against 10 other guys going pro it's not an advantage it was back in the day when the reputation was developed

Nemoo with the solid take.

I know their fans have every right to be cocky but I'd love to see the reaction there if Grimes signs with us.

This kid really likes to have is ass kissed by these schools.  After awhile what can they say differently, I am sure Wojo and Co. will visit next week.

I'm amazed how much Kansas fans even care about which recruits they get. Their entire roster is 4 and 5 star players. If they don't get one particular 5-star, they get another 5-star. Do they really get attached to particular prospects? What does it matter?

Or he's making a decision that could possibly be worth millions in the near future for him and he wants to make sure he's getting every bit of information he can and making the best decision he possibly can?  But I'm sure you're right...

Texas and UK visiting Grimes sometime  this week

Have to wonder if Grimes has selected the 2 finalist and is bringing them in for one last set of meetings.

Obviously a more distant future guy, but what is the report on him? Just another recruit. Program changer. Somewhere in the middle?

If that is the case, every GM can see him next year when there NBA team is in town.  Easier for him to be seen.  MU having an open spot at guard next year assures
him of playing time, and being in an NBA city.  Edge MU.

Top 50 recruit......1 of the better point guards in his class. Was at the Team USA camp this summer.

Oklahoma is the team to beat right now

From everything I've read, Texas and Kentucky would much more likely be eliminated than be the top 2. I think we are right there with Kansas.

I know nothing about him but from a quick google search looks to be 4 or 5 star PG (depending on service) top 50 guy in the class of 2019. Would be a very nice get.

I imagine it'd be something along the lines of "ABC." You don't get an El Dorado, steak knives, or even a cup of coffee if you aren't doing that.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

One con argument is, "As a basketball player in Podunkville, you will be the biggest show in town. In Milwaukee, the Bucks will always get more attention."

Meh.

Second fiddle to NBA stars > One of a benchful of college stars in Podunkville

KU fans sense that they are falling behind the other blue bloods. While self had made them consistent contenders,  he has brought "only" two final fours and one championship to Lawrence in 14 years. Meanwhile Duke,  UK,  and UNC (where their previous coach works)  have been killing it in March.

Nowadays, half the top 20 recruits go to either Duke or UK leaving only about 10-15 5 stars for everyone else. And now that unc doesnt have the NCAA investigation hanging over they're head,  they'll start pulling more 5 stars. As others pointed out,  more and more 5 stars are going to non blue bloods. The way they see it,  if they cant breast out schools like MU for Grimes,  how will they ever keep up with the other blue bloods?

I hope when Grimes sits down and makes his decision, he takes a long hard look at the other 3 schools and says "you know, Kansas, Kentucky and Texas are all still recruiting guys for 2018, MU however, isn't." "They must really want me, especially given they are going to make a scholarship available to me"

For me, that would matter, a lot..especially if those other schools have used the pitch that he is their top priority. Because that's simply BS. I mean, Self was in to see Herro today, 24 hours after taking his whole staff to see Grimes. If I'm being recruited, that sends a message...I know you never stop recruiting, but KU has AT LEAST three other offers out to 2018 kids as well.

KU visiting Herro today is interesting. I could be wrong, but that tells me at very least that Grimes didn't tell Self that he was coming to KU yesterday.

Is the first time that UK and TU have visited Grimes since his official visit? I don't remember seeing any other in home visits.

MU and Milwaukee offer something the other 3 can't. And that's an NBA team in town. For a player like Grimes who is tagged for the Association, just the ability to play in pick up games and hang around the pro game is enough to put MU in a envious position versus the other programs.

I thought people were saying that Herro is going to go to prep school for a year and then to a blue blood? If that's true then it makes sense why Self and Co visited him.
