QG's AAU program's director has some nice things to say about his visit.

http://www.zagsblog.com/2017/10/23/quentin-grimes-enjoys-marquette-visit-decision-expected-fall/
I think this is pretty encouraging.  Something drew him to MU enough to make it one of his 4 visits with the likes of Kentucky and KU.  Now he says he was surprised at the level of the program and the facilities.  I'd interpret that to mean the areas of the MU program he thought were "weaknesses" relative to the blue bloods  turned out to be better than he expected.  We know we can offer almost assured starting at his desired position.  If he comes to believe that MU really isn't a step down from a facilities standpoint and he has at least a somewhat similar shot at winning He might just decide to join MU.

These are my thoughts as well.  I think QG's relationship with Marquette's coaching staff got him to make the visit and then QG discovered MU is on par with the facilities of the blue bloods.  Plus, it sounds like the talent level at MU is better than he initially thought.  Not on par with Kansas and Kentucky but closer than QG initially suspected.  I think MU has a great shot!

all we need now is Keefe with a haiku to complete the tri fecta

Who is this Keefe you speak of?

Well I would hope so. They spend just as much per player as both Kansas and Kentucky. I'm going on record, he's a lock. See you in 2018 Q.

Great points.

MU and Milwaukee offer something the other 3 can't. And that's an NBA team in town. For a player like Grimes who is tagged for the Association, just the ability to play in pick up games and hang around the pro game is enough to put MU in a envious position versus the other programs.

Did we hear anything about Jae or DWade being around the Al at all while they were in town?  Since they played Friday that would've coincided with QG's visit.

I think having Giannis and NBA team in town is a very big factor. I have said many times, but having NBA team means a lot to these kids, especially for guys that likely go to the next level.

Wojo tweeted a picture with Jae, DWade and Jim Boylan.  Perhaps from a walk-through?  I bet QG was around.

I'm sure that's kept very hush hush because it would appear to be in a grey area about what's ok and not ok by the NCAA

I suspect it does for some, but not others. No surprise. If having an NBA team in town was critical then Minnesota, DePaul, SMU, TCU, Houston, Rice, Arizona State, Cal State Sacramento, Cal, Stanford, St. John's, and others would do better than they do in my opinion.  Schools like UNC, KU, UK, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Indiana, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and so many others would do worse.

It would be a fun study to see if NBA co located schools are producing the same number of NBA players on a % basis than non NBA co-located schools.  One can make the pro or con argument either way.

A young man is soon to make a very personal and important decision in consultation with his family.  Whatever way he goes, he'll believe it's the correct decision for his future.  Let's make sure we respect that. Go Marquette.

If anyone from MU says negative things to Grimes when he would be our best recruit in a long time and has done nothing to get our hopes up or down then they are poor rodent-like representations of our fan base. Can't have that. Don't think we will. I honestly have seen very little negative tweets towards recruits who went a different direction from MU fans in the past....Although when I was a student I can't admit 100% innocence...

I, for one, will flame anyone who does that, and I hope I am joined by many others.
Have some patience, FFS.

Yep, seems to take the Blush out of KU's visit to Q.  This make me feel better about our chances.

I'm sorry, what's the con argument?  "That's right, as a Division I player at Marquette you may be asked to scrimmage with professional players."
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Kansas also saw Hurt yesterday in addition to Grimes.  Hope Wojo is spinning it like Grimes is clearly not their only priority.  Yes, I know Hurt is a 2019.

One con argument is, "As a basketball player in Podunkville, you will be the biggest show in town. In Milwaukee, the Bucks will always get more attention."

Good point.  And Kentucky and Kansas are a couple of football schools where the mens hoops teams are probably bigger stuff than football.

KU hosting Langford this weekend. How many guys can they take?  We're offering the keys to the castle, why would anybody think the easier path to the pros is at a crowded guard crop at KU as compared to a starting PG at a Big East school.  If you're good enough the pro scouts will find you. The notion of going to a blue blood to get to the pros (better path) doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Would Fox or Monk have been drafted had they gone to other power 5 schools. I kind of think so.
