Kentucky waffling on QG position is a good thing for us. When it comes down to evaluating pluses and minuses. That will be a negative.

Its alot to ask to beat out both Kansas and Kentucky, not to mention the home school (Texas) for a 5 star much less any star. I like the optimism on this board but I'm cautious at best regarding our chances (I have no inside info).  A kid calling up Self and Calipari to say I'm not coming, I'm going to Marquette has happened when??

I hope we can pull it off

And here is what Devon Dotson had to say when he committed to KU:

"They had a priority for a point guard, they are losing [Devonte] Graham, so they needed a point guard," he added. "They believe in me and will put the ball in my hands from day one."

Hmm, maybe Self is telling everyone the same thing?  I'm sure Grimes is thinking about that.

Are we talking in general or under self?

I remember not too long ago I stated Kansas was underperforming for a blue blood and that self was not as good as people made him out to be. I got crucified on here for that so just FYI it's not a popular opinion.
I guess in comparison to a few other programs they're underperforming in the tournament. Outside of Duke, UNC, and UK, who had had more success since Self has been at KU?

KU uses a two "point" guard offense. There's a primary ball-handler but the 2 guard get's the ball in his hands a lot. Self is trying to sell that both Dotson and Grimes will start and have the ball in their hands from day 1. It's worth nothing that Self has NEVER started two freshmen at 1/2 position.

It sounds like the concerns that would've pushed Herro prep have been taken care of. At least from what I've heard he likely is staying 2018.
He significantly increased his ACT, which is ironic in that some moron Bucky fans said he couldn't get in when he decommitted.

Ok, so your stance is that coaches should ultimately be judged by their tournament performances and Self has underperformed in the tournament?

yeah and after scanning a few other threads on KU's website it seems they agree. But I don't want to get this thread off topic as it is the great recruiting thread.

Coach Jerrance Howard, a KU assistant, liked the Corey Evans article where a person asked about where Grimes is going.

There is this guy in East Lansing who's been to 7 final fours but your point is well taken.

And we beat him for Hank & Joey, so no reason we can't beat Self!

Well, he spends a lot of time recruiting in Flint, even if he coaches in East Lansing.

Didn't see this in the thread. Timetable for the grimes commitment?

Not that the Crystal Ball means anything, but the first prediction for Jalen Wilson has gone to Marquette today...Harmon's teammate who is top 15 recruit for 2019 on 247.

Love to hear this. This would be quite a package deal for 2019.

Coincidentally, adding Grimes to Howard/Hauser is almost exactly like adding Durant to the Curry/Klay combo. Unstoppable. And this is obviously what Grimes is signaling here. He gets it.
