No. Karvala has not committed.

Appreciate the insight. Karvala seems like a fun player.

Will be interesting to see what happens next on the recruiting front if the Adrien Stevens rumblings pan out. Cam Ward or bust (or at all)? Focus only on 2026 players now?
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

My understanding is that Marquette is recruiting with the intent of filling out 15 scholarships with the proposed new scholarship limits that are in place. So if Stevens commits, AND the surprise is a 2025 out of left field, they can still go all out for Ward.

It's great to add 2 more scholarships but how does a coach keep that many kids happy when you only play 8 or 9 kids?

He's paid a lot to figure it out. Women's coaches have had that roster size for awhile.

Any many intentionally do not fill.

Maybe he just realizes that there will likely be roster movement in future years and having a roster of 14 or 15 will help him manage that potential disruption when it happens.

Nobody is promised anything and even though they didn't lose anyone this year that doesn't mean they won't lose a few next off season.

Ps and just because he can use 15 doesn't mean he will every year...........

Shooter McGavin

Also possible that he doesn't like what he sees on the court on a daily basis as much as he thought he would. Maybe the Norman, Lowry and Amadou class has underwhelmed him.

I would not be surprised is one or two of those kids are gone after this year

TBH, I completely forgot about the new rule and it's effect. That makes a lot more sense even if you just look at the pursuit of Ward in combo with Stevens. Thanks for the refresher--gonna take me a bit to have the 15 scholarship thing sink in fully.

As with everyone here, definitely intrigued about this "left field" recruit.

Reminder that when Kolek committed, Shaka tweeted a gif of Diener.

When Owens committed, Hatt tweeted a gif of Wade.

While I certainly don't have "better than Wade" on my list of expectations, here's hoping that Hatt's tweets are as predictive as Shaka's tweets

If he was, I never saw it either.

When did he visit MU? Anybody know

I saw last month that Shaka and Hatt had watched Phillips in in AAU play and he put up some great numbers in front of them.  But they also watched a ton of 2026s last month to get a head start on that class so I had no idea he was this kind of priority.

Same.  Didn't recognize the name at first but after rediscovering a tweet about Shaka watching him, I remembered I had seen the name before.

But I thought he was just be a 2026 kid they were starting to monitor.  No idea he would reclassify, no idea Shaka had him as a priority, and certainly no idea he would be committing any time soon.

Well, nobody can accuse him of being reluctant to shoot or of lacking confidence. He kept firing even though he couldn't hit the side of a barn, and he ended up a better-than-respectable 7-for-16 from 3. Very quick release, which will benefit him. Skinny as a rail.

And I can see why Hatt posted what he did.

Yeah he started 1-7 by my count i think but it came around for sure.

Holy hell all time

A lineup of James to run point guard and then Phillips, Miletic, Owens, and Parham in a couple years could be a lot of athleticism, length, and shooting.

Good friends with a family who has a son playing at the mid-low D1 level.  He's a starter...was all conference.  He's not really getting any serious NIL money.  Would he sit on MUs bench for 5, 10, 15 $K+?  Would he have gone to MU if they offered him that amount of money and a chance to develop/compete?  Would MU have wanted him as a possible project...tall kid that was working to develop his shot and ball handling/passing as a freshmen.  I think I could see that situation playing out for some kids.  I can tell you without a doubt, while he has gotten plenty of playing time, he would be a better player had he been at MU and never played a minute.  I'm surprised at the lack of resources for development that he has access to.
