I know it has been often on here, but I am a big Ben Steele fan.
Yes! Agree

Maybe deserves its own thread, as, yes, Ben Steele is a keeper!

I am guessing the surprise commit is the big from Australia.

Are you talking about Julius Halaifonua? He reclassified to 2024 and is likely going to be ringing out a different kind of Hoyas.

That'd be great. Now add Cam Ward and let's roll.

What is the likelihood that in situations like this Trilly gets his news from one of the coaches that were told no by the recruit in hopes of the recruit getting upset that his news got leaked and rethinks his decision?

I bet it happens. Definitely makes you wonder in cases similar to Nigel's where Trilly had him committed a month before the actual announcement.

In this case, "it is done" is about as rock solid as I could imagine.

I'm not sure that's the reason behind it, but I'm guessing one of the other coaches or one of Stevens AAU/HS coaches is his source. He's repeatedly described Marquette as Fort Knox when it comes to getting info out.

Adrien is an excellent prospect. Is a perfect fit for MU program. Let's hope this commit comes through.

He definitely has good sources. He's been in the lead on these stories.

Is this the surprise your source referenced? The surprise would be an earlier decision than expected.

Thanks.

I don't think Stevens committing would be a surprise to anyone

My guess is it's Vaughn Karvala to start the 2026 class

Vaugh Karvala!  Wow!  This kid is not your traditional Wisconsin or Minnesota player with height/size, good fundamentals and range out to the three that ends up being part of the Badger Machine that kicks out NCAA births before finally petering out due to below average team speed and athletic ability.

Watching him in these clips below this kid belongs in a system like Marquette where his length and freakish athletic ability can flourish.  He just finished his sophomore year and in the X clip he's blowing by players on the baseline and finishing with two hand jams.  In other clips he's initially beat and then has the ability to recover and block your shot from behind!  He has a constant motor where the the game just seems easy for him on all levels where he can hit 3's, create his own shot, finish in transition, block shots, rebound, anything.

Not surprised if he's our first 2026 commit and the staff had seen enough and said we have to have this kid.

It might seem I overhype a lot of our recruits but Shaka and his staff's greatest strength in my opinion is identifying players with huge upsides.  It's not be accident we've been back-to-back 2 seeds as all of Shaka's teams thus far have had tons of talent and I think our future teams will be more talented yet.  I know Shaka is great at keeping everyone focused on the team but when you have 13 top 100 players on your roster not all are going to be happy so there will be some cream rising where the top 8 to 10 stay and three leave for more playing time elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing these. Excellent prospect. It is really nice to see how hard this young man works on defense. Uses his length and timing to block shots in addition to his perfect shooting form.

If only OMax could block shots like this kid!

that was my thought too. And he was at the scrimmage
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.
