Well, take it for what it's worth, but the guy who's remained optimistic on Stevens the whole time says the staff expects a decision by Labor Day.
His belief is that Shaka has the strongest relationship of all the coaches and feels great about our chances.

As for Ward, someone asked Trilly Donovan who the leader was once his list came out, and Trilly said Marquette.  Sounds like he's moved up his December timeline which is also a plus.
Obviously some great programs, I personally worry the most about Alabama and MSU, but Arkansas being left off is great IMO - Cal + unlimited NIL would have been a problem.

Lastly, I know it's been alluded to already, but Damarius Owens has been incredibly impressive all summer.  Good enough to start and should be a core rotation player from Day 1, "first off the bench" good.  The buzz surrounding Hamilton, Owens, and even Clark to a lesser extent is super exciting.

Thank you, onepost.   I will continue to be optimistic.

It's kind of interesting and fun that two of the guys that were essentially last minute out of nowhere recruits- Caedin and Clark- are getting a lot of buzz for their abilities before having stepped on the court for live action in a Marquette Uniform.

Bodes well for the future at the 4/5 spots.
Hopefully the talent is real and translates to in game success, would be two great pickups by the staff.

As for Damarius, you could see it in the film that he's got real star potential.
We haven't heard much about him up to this point, so good to hear that it's legit.

That said, I'm pretty excited for 4th year Kam and Stewie. Hard not to pull for those two.
The glories of maintaining guys in the program and watching them grow year in and year out

Reminder that when Kolek committed, Shaka tweeted a gif of Diener.

When Owens committed, Hatt tweeted a gif of Wade.

While I certainly don't have "better than Wade" on my list of expectations, here's hoping that Hatt's tweets are as predictive as Shaka's tweets

Kolek better than TD?  Jersey going in rafters?

Love the news on Owens...

Goose

I cannot wait for Owens to hit the court!!

In an era where recruiting freshmen was by and large the only recruiting that took place. His portal recruiting wasn't great at UK.

And his coaching and player development has been suspect IMO.

And Kentucky was more than ready to move on from him

It's a fickle business. They gave him a life time contract only a few of years ago.

Talking with a former player...and common sense.  No one within arms reach of the MU program will tell you MU has Alabama money.  I hope I'm wrong...but I'd bet my house I'm not.

I never said we had Alabama money.

I did say that we have a much, much smaller pool of players to spend the money on. The vast majority of Bama's NIL money goes to football.

That is a key point. MU does not football to compete with and that is a big deal. While I only have limited knowledge of how MU works and the money available, everything I have heard sounds favorable for MU to compete nationally.

Apologies, not my place to air these out.  Hope for news here soon.

Lot of momentum on Discord that we could be getting a surprise commit ("could be some BIG news coming soon") in the next week or so, confirmed by multiple people.
Surprise commit meaning it's not Adrien Stevens and Cam Ward.

Some speculation about Naz Meyer (2025), Shane Pendergrass (2026), Andrew Jensen (2026), Vaughn Karvala (2026).  Maybe Kelvin Odih (2025)?  I have no clue.
Trilly was going to follow up so maybe he'll know more.  I hate to air out this kind of specific info from Trilly's Discord/other paid boards, but just wanted to pass along exciting news this once.

You could air it and not reveal where the info is from.  I think most of the board trusts your info at this point.   ;D

Who would be the biggest catch of the surprise players?

The Hippie Satan of Hyperbole

Meyer reclassified to '25 as he was originally in the '24 class. He was just offered by Marquette in June.

Odih has been on Marquette's radar for awhile. He had an official in December, but it just doesn't seem like we have been mentioned with him much.

Karvala and Jensen are both from Wisconsin.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Thanks for all the info onepost.

As a side note, so far I've noticed only three 2025 players that Shaka is following on Twitter:

Ian Miletic
Nigel James
Kelvin Odih

Not Ward or Stevens.  Hmm...

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Naz Meyer dropped 35 on Parham and Owens in the Prep Championships... just saying.
