Duke is like 25 years behind Marquette.  We did the blowing up shoes things in like 1994.

Im not worried about getting those top ten 5* players. If they don't come so be it. What is concerning is getting some guys from the next tier down. if we want to realistically maintain top 15ish level of play we will need to grab some more top 60 guys. Torrence will not be enough. MUs is involved with a lot of top 60 guys as others have said. Not getting another one or two of those would be the real disappointment.

But we had Brad Stevens and Gordon Hayward and uncle Rick the jump around guy and a half filled student section doe!

That reminds me I'm surprised there hasn't been a post about the size of the crowd last night

It's been a very bad February with so much snow and cold. In terms of just turnout, our fans have been excellent thus far, especially given this weather. I was shocked at how well we turned out for DePaul at Wintrust on a horrible winter night. Empty seats on a crappy night for a mid-week late start against a struggling Butler program don't overly concern me. Butler, though not the program of their Final Four years, still carries some cache. The last two home games are sellouts except for a few individual seats.

This being said, I do feel our fans sometimes don't realize how much an effect being loud and really into it pumps up the players. With our improved defense, our crowd should really be roaring on this side of the ball. Sometimes I think we put too much emphasis on what an opponent is ranked to determine how loud we get. Students and alums alike need to get off their behinds and get behind this team with all you have. Appreciate how talented this Markus kid is right now,  and that there's a possibility he won't be around next year. Embrace the beautiful rarity of what you are witnessing...a once in a lifetime talent who wants nothing but to win. Take in every moment and get loud. Pre-empt Wojo, the players, or some beer-belly "pretty-boy" having to flap their arms to get people up and get the place electric. Never be entitled. See these guys into March with a send-off worthy of how hard they work to represent Marquette.
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she'd be a super horse......what's this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...

Nailed it!  I'm on board...

Shout out to those guys in the lower bowl who try to get the crowd up after Marquette scores a bucket and need a big stop on the other end.  It usually doesn't work as the people around them often remain sitting but I appreciate the effort anyway!

How about that recruiting, hey?

Hate how people lose the point that this about recruiting news.

The big question is... when will we hear about the next commitment?

Shortly after the next Scooper is committed.

Patrick Baldwin was hardly raised in Marquette's back yard. Hell, he was enrolled and playing in summer leagues for Loyola Academy in Wilmette not even two years ago.

There are very little Milwaukee ties for the Baldwin family besides Pat Sr. getting a head coaching opportunity.
I think the Dad coaching at UWM is actually the best thing we have going for us in the Baldwin case. As a parent he will want to see his son play as much as possible. As a college coach time is at a premium during the season, MU literally gives him the best chance to go to as many as games as possible without significant disruption to his own job. Also I would expect to see a renewal of the UWM game as part of the recruitment.

I mean...Baldwin Jr going to UW-Milwaukee probably gives him the best chance to go to as many games as possible without significant disruption to his own job.

Funny, I think that is probably the worst thing for us. If he wants to stay close to home, he almost has to go to UWM doesn't he? How can dad spin him choosing MU?

When he gets fired, Wojo can hire him and his son.

Still never understood why UWM fired Rob Jeter. Was a moronic move on their part.

Yeah Jeter looks better in retrospect, but I think people didn't think the program was going anywhere.  The big problem was not hiring Otzelberger as their coach.  I think he would have done very well there.

Has Baldwin, Jr. even visited Marquette unofficially?  I don't see anyway he goes to MU.

Amen.  Class act!!

Jeter was a solid coach, but after the postseason ban for academic reasons the firing makes sense.
