That's what their coach Roy Williams says...correct.

Yes, Roy is an honorable man who only speaks the truth.

In 2003 "As for Williams, who late on April 7th denied even thinking about the UNC job for a second, he ended up leaving Kansas "

reading through the Carolina forums, most are hoping the Davis signing won't hurt their chances with Bryce Thompson.

Plenty of other more honorable coaches said the same thing about the crapshoot.
"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

Evan Daniels says UNC.

He gawn.

To be clear... while it looks pretty bad for MU, Davis has yet to make an official announcement.

Right?  I mean what happens if a couple other guys commit to Carolina in the interim.

I'd say there's a chance. Three of his most recent Twitter followers include Mark Miller, John Dodds, and MU assistant Jake Presutti. Not saying it confirms anything, but entirely possible the staff is at least testing the waters.

Etc

I'm not judging them on their character, I'm judging them on their expertise as coaches and how difficult, lucky, etc it is to win it all in the NCAA tournament.  Nothing more.

I don't think I've ever agreed with anyone more. He may not come to MU, but everyone needs to chill the heck out.

Pretty difficult to win most sports championships.

exactly. winning a game in the tourney is not a crapshoot. winning the whole damn thing might be.

My point is, why do so many cheat if this is such a crapshoot (or turn a blind eye)?  Again, in any business, you or I would have been fired a long time ago if we did what these people did.  Cheatshoot.

Just win, baby!

I would agree that there can be an element of luck to winning the national championship (not every year, but some years). Not so much to winning a game or two.

Coaches call it a crapshoot because it deflects blame off themselves and their teams when they underperform.

Yep.

Since everybody's already all doom and gloom, has anyone heard anything (positive or negative) about Suggs lately?  I assume he's still a very heavy Zags lean, but I can't remember hearing anything about him since the summer.  The longer he remains uncommitted, the higher my hopes become that it's not #dondeal to Spokane.

Last I heard, Memphis was paying him a visit. I imagine they are hoping to land some big names like Green, Suggs, & Dawson and establish themselves as a third recruiting heavy hitter along with Duke and Kentucky.

+1. Most of these coaches have egos the size of New York city. "Was I out coached?" "Were we unprepared?" are honest and uncomfortable questions that become irrelevant if one accepts the "crapshoot" concept. That big name coaches would promote such a self serving meme surprises virtually nobody but Chico.
