Dawson Garcia discusses his recruitment:

'Dawson Garcia being courted by Big Ten schools and Blue Bloods'

Minnesota- "I have a great relationship with [Coach] Lindsted and [Coach] Pitino especially. They came to my house and I'm gonna go on a couple unofficials here and go hang out with them a couple times, so it should be good."

Marquette– "It was a good experience, they were just saying basically that they'd bring me in and it would kind of be built around me, and I would kind of run the show and bring everyone in. When I went out there I built a great relationship with Wojo and Stan and all the staff, as well as the players since I got to hang out with them as well."

Indiana– "They came to my house when they could do the in-home visits, and they were just showing me film on how they would use me and I really saw myself playing in that style. It was cool to see all the success that guys like me have had there."

---

Minnesota and Indiana are in the Big Ten, and he's being recruited by Big Ten schools and bluebloods, therefore my only conclusion is...

Some comments from recruits always crack me up. "they'd bring me in and it would kind of be built around me, and I would kind of run the show and bring everyone in."

Like, really?

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

My thoughts are well known with respect to Woj. I'll believe he can do it when he gets it done. He's an average recruiter, maybe below average given his resources, and a below average coach. Since he has the administration's backing, I guess we have to go with him. Though, that doesn't mean we have to like it.
Our best hope is for Wojo to have a respectable season (20 win plus)this year and then get hired away by a desperate power 5 football school. He got a few nibbles this year and I think next year will get some more.

I spy a few of our coaches to the right of the hoop on the far side. Looks like Wojo, Stan, empty seat, DK?

Let the record reflect,  a below average recruiter landed kids who were good enough for Virginia and Michigan State and a (likely) preseason first-term all-American.

So the fact that two of his best recruits transferred to better programs is a feather in his cap?

After watching Markus this last year, I could completely see Wojo telling a recruit this. So, to answer your question, yes, really.

I'm glad you have something that can give you pleasure: reveling in Wojo's recruiting misses.

Otherwise, I'll defer to my fellow Scoopers the many holes in your "logic."

Hey.

Not speaking for the man, but my take is he does not "revel" in Wojo misses. He is first and foremost a longtime MU fan. His has formed an opinion that Wojo is not the right coach for MU. It is his opinion. This is a board that is full of opinions. Opinion's are neither right or wrong. We all can agree or disagree with his comment, but he is entitled to his opinion, as are you.

Take note to everyone here...Scoop can now be shut down, as this post just won the internet! Thank you for saying that...it's amazing how so many here jump all over a certain someone's OPINION on anything MU basketball. I do think people must have a complex or something.

It is your list so however you want to do it is fine.

I would say this, he is probably one of the hottest players  out there. Killings and U Conn put out an offer early on.  MU has been closely monitoring for some time. 247 rank went from unranked to 67. Is picking up offers from several Big East schools and the likes of Florida and Georgia.

I think he is more of a real prospect than many of the names of the list.

That's probably true.  Personally, I'd like the list to be reduced significantly using the 'realistic' criteria.  All ears.

I thought Pakuni was talking about recruiting, but you seem to be saying something else.

I would add to Pakuni's list that he also landed Ellenson over Kentucky.  And recently Torrence over some highly ranked schools.

If y'all think Woj has recruited well, how'd y'all rate his coachin', hey?

Not as many as we would like.   But there aren't many programs that fire coaches averaging 21 wins a season for four years.

Some good, some bad....better then when he started, but still needs to show improvement.  If he doesn't, well then he won't be for long.  I normally like the offense, thought the coaches and players improved the defense considerably last year and I expect we will be even better defensively this upcoming season.
