A transfer like Carton might be better long-term than getting Mane, who seems likely to bolt for the pros early.

That said, I wonder if Wojo publicly sniffing around every guard on the transfer market isn't also him trying to send a message to Mane.  "If you want to be here, sign now or we will move on"

Doubt that. Wojo has proven many times over that he is in over his head.

Figured I'd ad a little recruiting speculation while I can.

Karim Mane:

Karim Mane is the lone guard within the high school realm that Michigan State would enroll in the fall. However, he has not been willing to speed up his recruitment much despite his season being over and the coronavirus impacting the visits that he is allowed to take. Speaking with him last week, Mane is holding out hope that the ban on visits will be lifted on April 15 and, if that is the case, would take a handful of visits before committing.

He has just taken a single official visit to Marquette on Jan. 4, and while the Golden Eagles remain a top suitor, Mane remains open to others. Beyond MSU, he is also speaking with Alabama, DePaul, Georgetown, Memphis, Pitt and Wake Forest. There was a belief earlier in the year that he might test the NBA waters, but there is now a better chance of Mane attending college in the fall.

If they feel like their chances are dwindling or Mane's timeline doesn't match theirs, then the grad-transfer route could be next avenue they take.

Mane certainly doesn't seem in a rush to make any type of decision. Nor does he seem overly excited about any individual school. He continues to say his focus is on going to college, but hasn't really seemed to make any progress on that.

McGee will be a a Division 1 player.  He's lighter on talent than some other guards, but he makes up for it all with toughness, brains, and heart.  Excellent defender.  I could see him getting a preferred walk-on spot at a mid-to-high major that becomes a scholarship after a year or two.  He's the type of kid everyone wants on their team.

If so, all the more reason Hunter might pass...Carton a redshirt sophomore as Hunter is a freshman. Plus, can Torrance be the starting 1 next season, or is McEwen still considered a pt guard, and starter?
