Hope Wojo replaces Stan with a good game coach.

Agree. He needs to find a guy who can help improve the team next season.

I do worry about Mane now that Stan has left. I think Stan's family and Mane's family have very similar backgrounds. I think there's a reason why a lot of Stan's recruits were the children of immigrants from Africa.

Huh?  Markus?  Bailey? Elliott? Cain? Theo? Jayce? Garcia?

Reality is, is that Stan was basically the guy responsible for getting all of our recruits. So you can add Akanno, Ike, Oso to that list...not exactly a clear cut recruiting strategy/philosophy.

I think people are vastly overestimating how much recruits care about how teams perform the season before they get there.

Agreed.

Most think about fit, role, playing time, relationships, ability to showcase talent for the next level, etc.

Akanno, Ike, Oso, McEwen, Chartouny was the son of first generation immigrants from the middle east. I didn't say all, I didn't say most, I said a lot of. And I do think it was a selling point for Mr. Mane.

And the only one responsible for all of our recruits is Wojo but yes, Stan has shown great recruiting ability.

Some scoopers think Stan is just another assistant coach who is easily replaceable.

Others realize as long as we’re stuck with Wojo, it doesn’t matter.

I agree that we need to get rid of every thread here except "Fire Wojo!" threads. And those are the only new threads that the mods should let start.

And that should be the case until he is gone, no matter how long it takes.

Coach Killings was the lead recruiter for both Torrence & Lewis.

Stan has to be replaceable because regardless of what happened we were going to need to replace him.
1. We fire the coaching staff - We need to replace him
2. We promote him to head coach - We need to replace him
3. He leaves for another job - We need to replace him
4. He gets complacent in the job - we need to replace him

Instead of worrying about being irreplaceable, we need to have faith on hiring the next assistant or that Killings was already being groomed for the role.  If we look at the history of MU the recruiting assistants were always someone we thought was irreplaceable but we seemed to do fine after they left.

Just a few that were irreplaceable:
Isaac Chew
Buzz Williams
Tony Bedford
Darrin Horn
Bernie Seltzer

Well said. While all signs point to Stan being a great guy for the program as lead assistant, there is no reason to believe MU will not find a great coach to fill his role.

Perhaps, but you're at a point in the program where the coach is already under heat coming into a rebuild year.  This is going to turn some quality assistants away.

Maybe the paycheck attracts them too.

Only the six or seven people on this board with too much time on their hands think there is heat on Wojo. Please find me one local, regional or national writer that has him on the hot seat and then I will apologize.

I disagree, MU pays really well. If there is an issue with the coach after next year, Wojo might be hiring the next coach, much like Buzz

Please provide the name of one person in the basketball community who thought Darrin Horn was not replaceable? Or Tony Bedford for that matter? They may have been liked, but no one ever said the weren’t replaceable.

And 85% of Scoopers thinks he grades out at a “C” or worse. Not exactly a ringing endorsement among the most passionate fans.

You’d like to think the highest paid employee at a university would grade out better than a C-F.

There are more than enough' threads here to carpet bomb with the same posts over and over again, if that's what gets you off.

Please don't ruin the recruiting thread.

Karim Mane:

https://twitter.com/jakeweingarten/status/1242158553785384960

He also did a Q&A on Instagram and had this exchange:

Q: Who is the front runner for PG Karim Mane?

A: Spartans of MSU. I think them and Marquette are at the top. He could be great under Izzo or Wojo
