Just curious: when you compare dogs to other animals you've had, have you ever had a cat? Or are you comparing your dogs to a goldfish or ant farm?

Yeah, we had Caesar (Black & White  cat) for 22 years and Poncho (also Black & White) for about 8 years.

The fun part, was on vacation overnight motel stops trying to find those guys the next morning, I know I pulled out every drawer and moved every bed getting them into the van.  But they were a lot of Fun.

Dogs are awesome, but don't overstate their loyalty. If you die and no one's around to stop them, they won't hesitate to eat you, starting with your face.

Years and years ago, when Steve Martin actually was funny, he had several hilarious bits about cats.

My fave was the one where he says something about his girlfriend's p-word a couple times. Then, after the audience reacts, he says:

"I WAS TALKING ABOUT HER CAT, PEOPLE! Jeez, you can't say anything anymore."

Then, after a brief pause, he says, "And that cat was the best fu@& I ever had."

I was wondering the same thing. One of the main reasons we have a cat is the ability to travel without worrying about them. We have gone as long as a week with nobody looking in on our cat, and she was no worse for wear when we got back. Just put out lots of food and water, and maybe an extra litter box, and you're good to go.

Which is fine by me. I'd be dead.

Almost all our vacations were with our dogs & cats as were our Hurricane evacuations.

This happened last year to my friend's sister that lived alone when she passed.

Portland sends federal government $528,000 fine over courthouse fence

https://www.opb.org/article/2020/08/05/portland-oregon-courthouse-fence-fine/

The Portland Bureau of Transportation said fines over the fence erected outside the Mark O. Hatfield federal courthouse in downtown Portland topped $528,000, according to a letter sent Monday and obtained by OPB. The letter also states fines will increase by $48,000 every 24 hours the fence stays up.

The fence is blocking a bike lane "creating a hazard to the public" and the federal government still hasn't applied for permits, PBOT director Chris Warner wrote. The city continues to assess a fine of $500 every 15 minutes. it remains in place.

Kudos that the Feds finally completed a few feet of wall ... and tried to make Oregon pay for it.
