Mine eat worse things than dirt.

I was with some friends last year and they were saying how their dog eats everything, and even had a surgery to remove something insane.

As we ate, there was a dirty pizza napkin on the table.  Dog walked up and schllooop, sucked it into his chow hole.

I'm like "Hey, your dog is eating that napkin."    They had a good 3 seconds to react; nope.  "Nah, that won't kill him."

Our friends' golden retriever ate the glass ornaments off the Christmas tree, the netting from a ham, and a box of Tide.

I guess he was ahead of his (unsurprisingly short) time on that last one.

Down here in Texas we get giant toads in our backyard. Dog will try to eat them whenever he gets the chance. When he does get a hold of one, it causes his mouth to foam and he yaks everywhere. First time it happened we took him to the vet and asked her if the toads were poisonous to dogs. She said that around here it was very unlikely that we had poisonous toads. So we asked her why he throws up after eating them. She said that the toads taste so bad that it makes dogs heave....

I could understand if the toads were tasty or even neutral flavored. But you gotta be a special kind of stupid to keep eating something that tastes so bad that it makes you hurl. I guess we don't keep him for his brains.

Appreciate that, but I'm over a hundred miles from the coast, Texas turns out is a pretty big place. We did get a nice hard drizzle for about 20 minutes. But I'll pass along your wellwishes to some of my buddies living on the gulf.

If he is a big dog you have not much to worry about. Is he sone kind of retriever or a hunting type dog? If so, they go nuts for frogs/toads. They stink and dogs go for that. Toads do have glands that eject a hormone that paralyzes animals. That is their defense mechanism and that is what made the dog foam from the gums. We had a Yorkshire and bc they're hunters they bite into the prey. Since they're small that poison really affects them, started foaming and getting stiff we rushed to my friend the vet. He knew immediately what it was. Pressured wash dog's gums with water and all fine. So next time get a hose and wash his gums.

Glad you're far away from Laura, it is going to be bad.

The dog I had used to catch rabbits and eat them whole, bones and all.  Next day was always fun

I think the rule should be that if you name a cover, you have to post an audio version of it to enlighten the rest of us!

And on that note:

She does a very good job with that remake, but I'd suggest this is the Meg Myers video to watch.

I made my 12 year old son make dinner tonight.  Sloppy joes.

He asks .. "what is a can opener?"   A: you need to figure that out yerself.

He pulls out a corkscrew .. "Is this it?"

Man, he needs to go back to school.

Beg to differ. If my 12 yr olds 'go to' tool was a corkscrew I'd be asking his school if he could skip 6th grade and start a program to obtain high school credits.

A cork screw is the duct tape of kitchen utensils.

Did you say "yes" and then calmly watch as he tried to open the can with the corkscrew?

I'm glad you opened this can of....anyhow....

I've been using one of these for about a decade, and can't believe the ancient tech can openers most homes still have:

Interesting. How does that work with can tops? (A lot of the cans we use are soft dog food given as an additive that lasts 4-7 days).

Assuming the silicon can tops (like I have), just fine. The can is not sharp at all after removal and the top fits snugly.
