Remember we've got the FBI lurking out there, and plain ol' coach got fired at the end of the season news, both of which can lead to fall commits getting releases.  I think this possibility and grad transfers are the two most likely since a regular transfer can't help with the immediate need for more ball handling next year.

And actually I think I might be wrong anyway.  If we can land a decent late booming PG out of high school, MU would likely offer.

Especially if Wojo believes that starting Markus/Elliott will work out just fine.  A Traci Carter #2 could walk in and get solid bench minutes as a Frosh/Soph.  That would be attractive to many kids.

I'll go with what Big Daddy said in his last known post, advising the staff is looking for in 2018:

A Top Tier Grad PG or a Top Tier High School PG.

Not many Top Tier HS kids left, so keep an eye on the Grads, when they start in a few months.

Graduated from Liberty last year. Interestingly, he carved out a role as the starting 3 for the Flames, and really was more a rebounding specialist than anything else. Still poor on efficiency, even at the lower level.
He made it to the G League.

It really sounded like Bailey was being recruited as a shooting guard when he was coming out, or as a 2/3 combo. I don't think he'll be a primary ball-handler by any means, and while it sounds like it's (again) been confirmed he'll be arriving on campus in the next few months it's tough to see where he'll fit in to get minutes as a freshman.
Bailey is going to be a game changer. Markus with height.

1. Great Name.
2. Can he put some meat on the bones?

Your last call , Carlos Curtis, turned out to be a gem.

No.
Bailey has the biggest upside of any recruit in the Wojo era. He is a great shooter, court vision, genetics , and now has two years of maturity.  He is going to be done with Mission in April so he will have a full 6 months to get in game shape.

You probably though MJ's kids were going to be all-americans.

I've been saying for years that I think Bailey is a total steal and being completely overlooked here.  We agree on that.

But he is not Markus with an extra foot of height.

Bailey was a top 100 recruit.    I have seen his game compared to Reggie Miller.   Another 6'7-8 guy who can shoot?    Yes, please.    But let us not unfairly burden the young man.   2 years away is quite a while.   His body has changed.  He hasn't played.   I think he will be very good, but I have low expectations for him for 18-19.    But the combination of Jamal, Joey and BB convinces me that the forward position is well stocked going forward.

He will be done on March 8.

Brendan Bailey is an elite level shooter who is  going to come in taller and bigger than when we recruited him.  I project him as an exciting player at the 2/3.  He is going to create significant match up problems against most opponents.

Galway Eagle

realistically how much time does he have that he could have stayed in shape? Are we talking push-ups and crunches before bed or are we talking him having a couple hours to shoot hoops every day?
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I think being "in shape" won't be the issue.  Not playing a high level basketball game in nearly two years will be.

So you don't have a high opinion of the DC area post-Mission Mormon rec league?  ;D

Obviously some HS stats can be spotty, but I don't consider 36% from three elite.

Jordan Tucker transferring to Butler. Would have loved to have him as part of our program.

If only we had 45 scholarships instead of 13 we could recruit most of the guys that you would "love to have as part of our program".......

Since the recruiting thread poll got shut down before I could ask, I'll ask here - is there a way to offer a recruiting table similar to the scholarship table? I don't know all the logistics, but if users could update a table like that, it would be a pretty efficient way to get a handle on the current recruiting situation without reading through so many pages. Have we ever had anything like that here on Scoop?

There's a wiki page that hasn't been updated in quite a few years on recruiting.
