Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Looking into this Kon decision is interesting to say the very least. He's a guy who said he can play in any system but also wants to play right away. I haven't seen anywhere where he says he NEEDS to start but that kinda seems implied for a guy that's gotten as much buzz as he has. Let's entertain the idea of him at Marquette:

Kolek and Ighodaro are the only 2 that will be forced with a decision to stay or go. I think we can all agree that Oso is headed to the NBA. There is a reason Marquette really hasn't added any guards and that is because they are LOADED. So let's say TK stays.

Kolek
Jones
Joplin
Gold

seem like surefire starters, which leaves 1 spot open. Candidates for that 5th spot would be Mitchell, Ross, and Kon.

The Depth Chart would be at 13 and the best we've ever seen.

Tyler Kolek/Tre Norman/Sean Jones
Kam Jones/Chase Ross
Stevie Mitchell/Zaide Lowery
David Joplin/Kon Knueppel/Damarius Owens
Ben Gold/Royce Parham/Cayden Hamilton

Something tells me that Kon and Ross would be battling for that final starting role in this scenario and Stevie would be coming off the bench as a defensive force. Maybe it is a pipe dream, but Championships take sacrifice. If there is one group I've ever been confident in sacrificing individual for team it would be this group.

Exciting times ahead regardless of this decision, but man this has the potential to be the most Nationally anticipated Marquette group since the 70's.

You forgot about Al Amadou.  I'd also be very surprised if Kolek and Sean Jones are both on the roster next year.  Very hard for me to see it.  I'd expect either Kolek turns pro or Sean Jones transfers.

Ahh of course.

Ya I'm with you on Kolek/Jones. Regardless it will be loaded either way but Kon raises the ceiling from a scoring standpoint.
VIOLENCE!

We're getting to the point where Shaka can go full Al and just say: if you come here we're going to win and if you go elsewhere we're going win.

After 2 years of Shaka, recruiting is the last thing I worry about.

If Gold plays center MU is in trouble, I expect a freshman to start at center

Gold did okay at the center last year in the limited time he played the position.

Ben gold was fine as a freshman. He was just under the impact of Justin Lewis, David Joplin, and Kam Jones if you are looking just at freshman years.

Ahead of Derrick Wilson, Sacar, Theo, Sean Jones, Sandy, Dexter, Juan Anderson, and the obvious two John Dawson and Matt Heldt.

With more playing time and more years he'll be fine.

Grading freshman too harshly typically ends up looking dumb in the future.

BCHoopster

I just do not think he can defend the center position, he will be great in short periods on offense as he will bring the opponents center out of the middle.  Hamilton in 2 years or Parham look like centers, Gold can be a weapon, just not a center.

Kon Knueppel has set an official visit to Marquette, per Jamie Shaw posted on X.  Sorry, didn't see this mentioned previously

MU62

Evan Flood of 247Sports reported yesterday that the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native will visit Madison on September 12, figuring to give Greg Gard and the Badgers program another shot at landing his commitment.

While he is visiting, I don't think they have a shot. Feels like an optics visit.

I'm all for optics if it helps Gard keep his job.

This is what happens when freshmen become sophomores and then sophomores become juniors.
Think of Oso as a junior vs. Oso as a freshmen.

What we do not know, if it is important to have his parents attend his games. MU is the closest school, but UW is not that much further.

Neither school stands a chance, if he wants to get away from his parents.

Probably wants to go to the school that gives him the best chance to make it to the NBA.

If he's good enough, he'll make it. Might even have a better chance at MU than Duke. Is OMax  a first rounder if he's playing off the bench for Duke?

in terms of showcasing his skill set, it's MU MU MU.  Maybe, maybe  Duke. Not UVA. Definitely not UW.

Why not UVA? They have 9 alums who played in the NBA last season, 7 of whom are under contract this season, 6 of whom were regular rotation players last season, 5 of whom were drafted, 3 of whom were drafted in the first round (and all three first rounders were in the last 4 years). I think UVA is one of the better schools at getting players into the NBA. Turns out defense, being team-oriented, and shooting threes are highly coveted by NBA teams.

UW, you're absolutely right about.
