In the mix.

@WisBBYearbook: Senior Kon Knueppel (6-6) of Wisconsin Lutheran plans to take an official visit to Marquette on August 28. Knueppel also has official visits planned in September for Duke, Virginia and Alabama. #wisbb
perfect. We'll have him signed on August 29th.

Thats the first day of classes for first semester. He will be able to get some of the campus vibe, fwiw.

Awesome.  No official visit to UW?  Closer to MU, but still giving MU an official.

Guess since he's already given his silent verbal he doesn't need an official visit.

What I have heard is Wisky is out, but kids change, likes Alabama so not surprised there, Cooper Flagg going to Duke might give him second thoughts there.  One thing I do know is that he wants to play right away but good enough to do that where ever he goes.

I heard the vibe of campus on syllabus day is one of his primary criteria  :)

Block party replaced now by the ShakaQ. 100 half barrels is the record.

When was the last time Bucky got a player we wanted? Kobe King? It feels like we shoot about 90% against them, although our recruiting profiles don't overlap all that much.

Johnny Davis.

But yeah I don't see anyone on MU's roster that UW recruited.

Probably Johnny Davis, though I'm sure offering his brother (which no one else did) helped.

I was skeptical the first time I heard that, but the third time it felt a lot more believable.

This literally showed up on Rivals today talking about Kon's upcoming visit to Duke - "Once seen as the leader to land Knueppel, Wisconsin now seems to have a fight on its hands when it comes to keeping the in-state star home for college."

I knew it had to be true that Kon's been a silent verbal to Bucky since the first time he picked up a basketball.  👀

Wisconsin was never seen by anyone with half a brain as the leader to land Kon.

I clearly think you do not understand "the silent verbal"

Tyler COLEk

Here's the most recent post on Buckyville re: Kon's recruitment.

QuoteIt was mentioned on here that when Kon visited the UW in June his visit was treated as an official visit. No matter what it was called it sounds like he received everything a recruit would get on an official visit. Now he is going to visit Marquette, Alabama, Virginia and Duke.

Guess we now have "silent officials" to pair with "silent verbals."

Looking into this Kon decision is interesting to say the very least. He's a guy who said he can play in any system but also wants to play right away. I haven't seen anywhere where he says he NEEDS to start but that kinda seems implied for a guy that's gotten as much buzz as he has. Let's entertain the idea of him at Marquette:

Kolek and Ighodaro are the only 2 that will be forced with a decision to stay or go. I think we can all agree that Oso is headed to the NBA. There is a reason Marquette really hasn't added any guards and that is because they are LOADED. So let's say TK stays.

Kolek
Jones
Joplin
Gold

seem like surefire starters, which leaves 1 spot open. Candidates for that 5th spot would be Mitchell, Ross, and Kon.

The Depth Chart would be at 13 and the best we've ever seen.

Tyler Kolek/Tre Norman/Sean Jones
Kam Jones/Chase Ross
Stevie Mitchell/Zaide Lowery
David Joplin/Kon Knueppel/Damarius Owens
Ben Gold/Royce Parham/Cayden Hamilton

Something tells me that Kon and Ross would be battling for that final starting role in this scenario and Stevie would be coming off the bench as a defensive force. Maybe it is a pipe dream, but Championships take sacrifice. If there is one group I've ever been confident in sacrificing individual for team it would be this group.

Exciting times ahead regardless of this decision, but man this has the potential to be the most Nationally anticipated Marquette group since the 70's.

I feel like hes going to Virginia and hes officially visiting to be nice, but also he's kinda intrigued by the program, but ultimately he'll go to virginia or whatever. Just the vibe I'm getting reading online. But hey, I've been super wrong reading online vibes more often than I'm right so who knows.

Does anyone feel that NIL will play a role in his decision?  It's gotten way out of hand on the football side and I get the feeling it's starting to creep into the basketball side as well.

What does "out of hand" mean?

He has specifically said that he doesn't care about NIL because if he plays to his capabilities in the best spot for him, the money will take care of itself both now and with future opportunities.

Obviously that could be him just saying all the right things.  Who knows what would really influence him if presented with an NIL opportunity.

Not sure I'm ready to call Gold a sure fire starter just yet.........and lots can change between now and next season.

Even if so, neither Kon nor Joplin are starting at the 5 so that spot wouldn't belong to either of them.

As long as Marquette is Kon's instate option. Mission accomplished.

Seems like an uphill task with UVA and Duke. But those are the schools you can accept losing out too.

I'm very happy they got the official visit.
