Yes. It's amazing how differently I think about recruiting under this regime than the last. With the last regime, it was always "maybe if we get this 4 or 5 star guy we can save the program" - with Shaka if he's happy with them buying into his system I'm happy with them - doesn't matter how many stars they have behind their name.

Some here thought that this year's team was woefully short on talent, mostly due to their collectively modest recruiting rankings. What they neglected was that it's a team game and coaching (whether good or bad) matters.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Owens was at the Providence game, good one to go to. He definitely looks like a Shaka recruit. Has highlight reels full of nasty dunks and seems to be disruptor on defense. His shot looks busted to me, I think it will need to be rebuilt. But the staff has done that before with success

This kid could be really good too.  Within this article is a minute and half video of some of his highlights.  Unlike Omax, who needs his feet set for a three and/or drives to basket to create shots or fouls, this kid is able to create his own shot with a pretty pull up jumper.  He also has great form and touch all the way out to the 3 point stripe.

He also looks every inch of 6'8 and has an abundance of athleticism manifested by power jam finishes.

I really like Faisal Abraham's kid too but when you have this kind of talent sold on your program and ready to commit you don't say no.  We can still try to get Faisal's kid too as we had a class of Garcia, Lewis and Oso who all played the same position and got good contributions from all three of them.

Isiah Abraham interview... Marquette comes up a couple times.  About a minute into it and again around to the almost 8 minute mark and then again later too.  Sounds like it would come down to Marquette, Virginia, Tennessee and Villanova.  However a lot of kids want to create a their own legacy and not follow in the footsteps of their father (see Wes Mathews Jr.).  So not sure we would be able to get him either way and taking taking Darmarius Owens is a no brainer.  Not sure who will turn out to be the better player, time will tell.

Huh? Oso played next to no time and did  next to nothing. Lewis and Garcia made good contributions on a horrible 13-14 team, shouldn't that be more of an indicator that it didn't work than it did?

You can believe both. He shoots threes, duane's not wrong about that. But his release is way too low and doesn't use proper form. Kam had a similarly ugly shot in high school but still made shots. Shots can be rebuilt.

The shot starts a little low, but everything else about it looks good.  Feet are set and squared, one fluid motion, high release.  It looks a lot smoother than OMax's to me.

Steph Curry has a low release point too.  This kids shooting motion isn't all that different from Steph's.

Curry's release is light years quicker than this kids.  Curry is a freak.

They ain't recruiting him as a pure shooter anyway.  He'll definitely need to work on it at the collegiate level but I'm not concerned about it one bit.  It's the athleticism and basketball IQ that has Marquette's attention

Shot is low and slow but that's fixable.

Thanks for posting the video, tower.

TAMU, I definitely don't see a "broken" shot. We've all seen a lot worse from fine HS players who are college prospects.

As for several mentioning that his shot is slow ... on the two deep-corner, catch-and-shoot 3s in that video, I actually thought he got the shots in a reasonable amount of time. It does start a little low, but that certainly can be improved.

Agree with Rico about the reasons Shaka wants him.

I'm in the "if Shaka wants him at Marquette, I want him at Marquette" camp. After seeing the video and getting involved in this discussion ... yessir, come on down, Damarius!

Report away, they will call me asking for a Greek salad and a gyro 😂
