I think I just figured out how to game the "1 international trip every 4 years" system. Fly internationally to Hawaii 3 out of every 4 years for exhibition games.

What a waste of a year if true. Ray McCallum Jr did it and I still think it was a mistake and those Detroit teams were world beaters compared to what he's joining at UWM.  Nothing like a year of playing terrible low major talent to prepare for an NBA career.

Ja Morant did pretty well at Murray St.  Not to mention, Pat's dad can tailor the offense to showcase his offensive skills.  That's an advantage.
Plus, Baldwin's defense looks questionable right now.  That deficiency can be hidden more at UWM vs a Power 5 conference.

Morant was an unranked recruit who had only 1 other offer.  He was a unicorn, not a consensus top 10 guy like Baldwin.

Are we pretending Baldwin is a skilled offensive coach?  Cause his UWM teams have been anything but.

And his defense? Come on. Nobody would be sitting a one and done cause his defense is a bit suspect as a HS senior.

Listen, if he wants to play for his dad, that's cool and not something many star HS players have a chance to do.  But outside that, let's not pretend that it's some savvy move otherwise.

Life is short, and this is probably the only window Dad and Son will have together . Dad is a busy D1 Coach and Son is embarking on his own high intensity life. So more power to them.

Spend the year bulking up and working on D and everything will be fine.

In honor of JayBee's return ...
Evan Flood has made a crystal ball prediction for Leon Bond to Marquette.

Leon is a student of mine, great kid (in addition to the basketball stuff), woud do Marquette proud!  Marquette has a pretty good record with TE players.

Tony Smith was awesome, and Merritt had a nice run too. I'd love to see what Leon could do at MU.

Gee......ever watch Baldwin play?  I'd say his dad has done a pretty good job of coaching his offensive skills.

Who said anything about sitting?  The goal here is to make Baldwin as draftable as possible.  It sure as hell worked for McDermott at Creighton and inflated his draft stock by offense being tailored to himself.   The same will go for Baldwin at UWM.  A whole offense can be created around him while that opportunity doesn't exist anywhere else.  It's going to be the Baldwin show at UWM and that will help push him up draft boards.

If Jalen Johnson is a top 10 or 15 pick so will Baldwin

Baldwin doesn't need his dad to make him "draftable." Unlike Jalen Johnson, Baldwin is insanely skilled. A 6'8" wing who handles it and shoots it like a guard, with solid athleticism to go with it and a really good feel for the game. He's the real deal, not just an athlete that happened to choose basketball.

Agree to disagree. Regardless of it being his Dad, I put playing for a school like UWM for a year about as low in prep value compared to playing for a legit program, or G League Ignite, or abroad.

In any case, bizarre how his recruitment shook out.  It was all blue bloods and token mentions of NW and UWM, then seemingly once Johnson had his issues at Duke, UWM surged forward. Gonna make Simmons' year at LSU look like Melo's year at Cuse in comparison
i live in PBJ's school district. The neighbor kid, same class w/PBJ, said the Baldwin's are tight, son wants to play for Dad. Neighbor said Duke and NW were definitely considered, but family wins regardless of the NBA, and 1dun shouldn't be assumed.

We always here "one-and-done" shouldn't be assumed and 99% are always "one-and-done".

If family is important, then dad will do what is best for his son and that's to get him into the NBA asap

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
