I doubt it.  My guess is that if he stays local, he's playing for his dad.

You are probably right. I think there would have been some indication by now. Still, let's hope even though I think it is really a very much a longshot.

Edit: posted the same time as Jack Barnes did, so it looks like it's Duke as expected.

Trimble looks explosive af.

So I guess what you're saying is if we got him, it would be getting good bang for our recruiting buck.

And that he'll be a dynamite player for us.

And that it could usher in a real boom time for Marquette hoops.

This is awkward... I don't think Willie knows what the USA is.
Except he played for Puerto Rico in the Olympics, Mr Awkward Numbnuts. My how the smug are so arrogant.

That's not "international."  He is an American citizen, as are all Puerto Ricans.

Indeed, seems like a '21 Baylor-type guard, would be a great addition. Didn't know he's J.P. Tokoto's brother, good nugget in the Ben Steele article

That would explain the crazy athleticism.  On his mixtapes, you aren't just seeing break-away dunks - he's driving through traffic and easily dunking through contact.  Which, for someone who is 6'2" or 6'3, is incredible at any level.

Would be very pleased with a Stevie and Trimble backcourt.  Both are big, athletic guards who can play on and off ball together.  Hopefully Bates and Bond join them on the wings as well.  Very athletic group to get after it on both ends.

Interested to see how Kam fits - not the type of explosive athlete shaka usually has in the backcourt.

Mitchell, Trimble, and Bates would be an intriguing 3 guard lineup.  Jones has some upside but probably a lower floor than those three.  Have to see how Jones develops.

Bond is an elite athlete but his offensive skills are raw. Only made 2 of 5 3fg last year.  A prospect worth tracking, but more of a developmental project at this point.

Yes, and like Scottish guys played for Scotland in the rugby World Cup! They must not be from the UK.

Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Agreed, makes it look easy but it's certainly not easy for anyone, let alone someone that height and/or age. If that's the style we end up getting from Shaka this will be a great era for MU hoops.

What a waste of a year if true. Ray McCallum Jr did it and I still think it was a mistake and those Detroit teams were world beaters compared to what he's joining at UWM.  Nothing like a year of playing terrible low major talent to prepare for an NBA career.

I don't think it matters one bit to how prepared he will be for the NBA.  And he wants to play for his dad.

Agree to disagree. Regardless of it being his Dad, I put playing for a school like UWM for a year about as low in prep value compared to playing for a legit program, or G League Ignite, or abroad.

In any case, bizarre how his recruitment shook out.  It was all blue bloods and token mentions of NW and UWM, then seemingly once Johnson had his issues at Duke, UWM surged forward. Gonna make Simmons' year at LSU look like Melo's year at Cuse in comparison
