Interesting list

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Too bad, I like Podziemiski more than Charles but it does sound like we are in the driver's seat for Mr. Charles.

I think Charles and an immediate pg transfer are gonna be on our radar (if your Symir intel is right). Or the Tyrese Hunter route if Prohm is gone. But I'd love to see us go after Xavier Johnson too.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I think a wing transfer will be the top priority. I think Stevie will be ready to play from Day 1 and more than make up for Sy if Sy does leave. That being said. I certainly wouldn't turn down either of the guys you mentioned

Not questioning you TAMU, but what makes you so bullish on Mitchell's ability to perform as a freshman? I like what I've seen from him too but I'm just wondering what you're seeing

None of the seniors will be returning.

I'd happily wager that at least 1 of them does.  No inside info, just purely a guess.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

So why spend one more year playing for free for a mediocre team and lose out on making six figures?

I don't think any of these guys are making six figures.  Your point is fair, but you can say that about pretty much any above average college talent.  Why is Carton playing for Marquette when he could have gone to Europe and made $80k this year  You can literally make that exact comment for every above average high major player.

Well, for one, making up for what Sy's brought this year is not a high bar. But I've watched a few of his games when they've been broadcast online and have really liked what I've seen. I've also heard similar comments from people who's scouting ability I trust. I don't expect him to come in and set the world on fire, but I don't think an effective 15-20 minutes a game off the bench as a freshman is an unreasonable projection.

Carton is getting a great education from Marquette that is worth a lot of money and will add up when his playing days are over and has to work for a living. That's why.

Speaking very generally, most guys want to complete their degree and move on. Seniors this season will complete that task. Most guys don't really see the impetus to stick around to start a graduate degree and then leave after one year. I highly doubt we'll see many covid seniors stay across the country.

9 out of 10 times, a four-year senior has completed all their graduation requirements before the Fall semester of their senior year.

Sarcasm? I mean looking at what the majority of former players are doing not many are in fields that utilize a degree. More are in basketball related professions. Which is purely networking. Those that aren't seem to be in realestate or sales neither of which are degree necessary.

Really outside of stem, medical, law, or finance what fields do you absolutely need a degree for? Teaching but then you'd be making more money as a pro in obscure leagues for at least the first 15yrs

Most recent data I've seen is that the average 4-year college grad makes around $53K after graduation. That means that roughly half of college grads make less than that. $65K right out of college with lots of expenses paid? That's amazing for most.
But those $53K folks are building a 40+ year career, while the hoops players are looking at 5-10 if they're lucky.  I always like the idea of graduating if you can to maximize your post playing coaching opportunities.  I know you can do it without staying in school, but it is a lot easier to do if you stay in school.  There is no general right or wrong answer.  Each situation is different.

It's really a shame we can't get much penetration into local AAU programs.

Not for nothing, the likelihood of moving to top league after playing in a slightly lower league for a year or two is much higher than if you would play domestically. The Euroleague is littered with Americans who played in a Tier 2 league out of school and moved up.

Per his Instagram, Kordell Charles named Marquette in his final 3, along with Tulsa and Illinois.

A long athletic wing would be a welcome addition to the 21 class.

The kid looks like a player. Too bad he can probably step right into U of I and contribute. Hard to turn that down.

He can step in at MU right away as well.  I have been to every campus in the Big Ten except the schools outeast.  Illinois plays in a dump compared to
the Fiserv Center, plus the school is in the middle of nowhere.  Very unimpressed with the campus as well.  That would be the last place I would want to go.
