Howard and OSA came, lost 2 to AZ, batting 50 percent not bad

Can we include gainey?
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I mean, I love Marquette basketball.

But who in their right mind would choose Marquette and Milwaukee over Arizona and Tucson?

Very little goes in Marquette's direction in that comparison.  Unless the kid likes cold weather, long winters and uglier girls.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Tucson is pretty consistently considered one of the worst cities in American to live in.

And while Milwaukee winters suck, your average highs in Tucson are going to be 80 degrees or above for 7 of 12 months a year, and I doubt you're going to have too hard of a time finding a pretty girl if you're a top basketball prospect no matter where you go.  It's not like you're competing with Southern California's 75 and sunny 363 days out of the year.

But $ean Miller is tough to beat on the recruiting trail.

Arizona has a big edge when it comes to coach most likely to receive a show-cause in the next 12 months.

Your sister goes to Marquette?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

It ain't over until its over, and then in this case, it might not be over then.  NCAA will probably allow a change of heart for any players committing before sanctions are imposed.  Not really what you want to hang your hat on though.

Were we battling Arizona for those two? My memory tells me we were battling Arizona St.

Markus took 4 official visits - Baylor, U of Central Arkansas (where his brother went), Arizona St (he had earlier committed, then recommitted) and us. Osa's final four schools were Stanford, Texas, Vanderbilt and MU.

Has MU offered this kid? If so is there actual interest?
I think MU was one of his early offers. His stock has obviously risen .

My kid is down to MU and TCU. TCU has an amazing  campus and very welcoming to catholics (2 masses a week). San Diego and LMU missed the cut. So I guess weather and beaches don't always rate as high as you might think with kids.

Both Markus and Oso had offers from Arizona but neither included them in their finalists. I have no idea if that's because they crossed off Arizona or because Arizona crossed them off.

Yes. At the time we were one of three high majors to offer along with DePaul and Arizona State. MU has been consistently mentioned with him but I have no idea where we currently stand with him. When we offered him, I remember watching some of his recent highlight videos and thought of him as a project who may develop into something as an upperclassmen. Then I watched his highlight videos at the NY2LA event a few weeks ago and thought he looked like a top 50 prospect.

Not sure someone "crossed off" the other. More likely, Osa and Markus were higher priority for MU (and their other finalists) than they were for Arizona. When we "beat out" a heavyweight (especially one that is local) it's highly likely there are extenuating circumstances.

I miss those days of yesteryear of being a heavyweight. Recruit? Naw. Select.

Lenny, I'm not interested in debating the definitions of "crossed off" and "beat out" with you. The only point I made was that both Markus and Oso had Arizona offers and ended up at MU. How much off that was because of Arizona's lack of interest in them and how much of that was because of their lack of interest in Arizona, I have no idea.

Shockin', hey?

Maybe spend less time on here with your schtick and more time helping MU obtain recruits the $ean Miller way.

Well hey, if that's the case at least we know we won't have to compete with Michigan State for his services, ai'na?  Selfless Joey Hauser just wants to make sure Steven Izzo is getting an equal opportunity to shoot the ball as him, Aaron Henry, and Rocket Watts do, and with Tyler Herro 2.0 coming in that just wouldn't be a possibility.
