Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

C'mon Holmes and Etienne. That would put the bow on a very nice recruiting class

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

mumi27

It would be a big deal getting one of them let alone both so I'm hoping for the best. I hope Killings can make it work with Etienne and Gainey with Holmes

No need to say adieu to Aidoo just yet, either.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I like the sound of this:

"Marquette is a great school," he said in April. "I have a great relationship with the coaches and it's a real family feel," he said. "I hung out with the team a lot. They said that I would almost be replacing Theo [John].
"They play in a great conference, the Big East. They're one of the top-25 teams in the country. Marquette is a great school. I love it there."
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

BCHoopster

Said the same on the Illini, they all say the same about schools. Never know what the kids are thinking, but hope the players get involved, coaches can only say so much.

Mac is going to the same prep school as Zaire Wade. So hopefully Zaire and Dad are flying our flag.

According to Sports Illustrated's Jason Jordan, DaRon Holmes will now make a decision before the early signing period starts, November 11th.

https://www.si.com/college/recruiting/basketball/daron-holmes-marquette-arizona-dayton-and-california-montverde-academy-recruiting

"Marquette: "I really like them; that's the only school I've taken an official visit to on my final list. They have a great culture there and they really take care of their players. The staff and the players have a great connection and the students really support the team. That part is really underrated there. That's a special place.""

He only mentions player development with Arizona and Dayton, though.  Dayton clearly got into the picture selling him on development.  Obi paying big dividends for them.

I would think the sooner he decides, the better it is for us since we've been able to get him for a visit & have been on him longer. The early date makes me think it's either us or Arizona, though those were the most likely options anyway.

Hard to beat out AZ, they got Mannion, it is MU's turn to win a recruiting battle, having Osa and Markus in MU's corner hopefully will help.  Could be a turning point
for Wojo as he would then put 2 good recruiting classes together.  Have a frontline of Theo, Holmes and Garcia in 2 years.  As big as Bo, Whitehead and Toone!

Are you assuming we automatically reup with Theo? I wouldn't be so hasty as that'd effect the PT of Lewis and Osa not to mention the prospective PT of Holmes

Yes I think they would automatically reup with a potential fifth year player who has started the last two years.  Let the playing time sort itself out.

Counter point, an offensively inept player that hasn't had to be good on that end as we focused on outside shooting and slashing with Markus Sacar Bailey and Sam (and tried with Koby) through his career. Seeing as there's no clear heavy hitter offense next year let alone the following when Carton likely leaves I'm not sure John would retain his starting spot and thus would be interested in another year. But I could be wrong just my take.

Theo really is the only center of the group, Osa and Lewis are forwards as well as Dawson and Holmes.  Sure with that height they might be able to play
3 forwards, the real question, will Wojo change the offense when Theo is out of the game and play more of an NBA type O.  We will see.

Well if he loses out on PT, he loses out.  That is pretty much what I meant by "let the playing time sort itself out."  I think you undoubtedly take him back, but you need to be clear about what he role is.

6-9 255 pounds and 4 years solid Big East experience will always get minutes. Although the amount of minutes may not necessarily be the same.

So we ended up using only 11 scholarships this year, right?

Seniors: John, Cain and McEwen
Juniors: Elliott
Sophomores: Carton, Torrence
Freshman: Lewis, Akanno, Idhodaro, Garcia
Redshirt: Perez

Theoretically then have room for 2 mid season transfers.

Drive me crazy, but John is listed as a forward. He has no forward skills.
