Jake Weingarten spoke with Etienne this week:

He mentioned his recent zooms with Marquette, Miami, and Illinois, and UCLA.

Kentucky is the newest program to reach out to him.

Considers all of the above mentioned schools plus Kansas, UConn, Syracuse, Providence and some others in the mix. He had previously heard from Duke but nothing ever came of it.

https://stockrisers.com/s/144/top-60-senior-mac-etienne-updates-his-recruitment-new-interest

24/7 doesn't show us as involved, so I don't think that we can take Etienne's word for it.

;)

Okay, if you absolutely need teal, here's some teal.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Thank you for posting! Man would it be nice to land Holmes, he's a great basketball player and it seems like he has a good head on his shoulders from everything I've seen
He may be a great basketball player, but Holmes is the world's greatest consulting detective.

Not sure this is the correct category but Did not see a Big East category to put this in but Ryan Mutombo committed to Georgetown.

Yep. The Big East itself, Big East League Recruiting is worthy of its own thread. Or it can be put here. I, for one, have high level interest in league recruiting. He chose Georgetown over Georgia, and Stanford, and Tennessee.

Virtual with Ty Rodgers Wednesday

https://twitter.com/jakeweingarten/status/1313150958046769155?s=21

Marquette's Steve Wojciechowski and his staff will virtually meet with Top-50 junior Ty Rodgers on Wednesday afternoon, he told @Stockrisers.

Five-star caliber prospect is a major target for the Golden Eagles. They've already offered.

MU has more than enough guards coming in with the 2 new recruits, and at least 4 or 5 more coming back.  I am sure Taylor can see that
they are pretty stacked at the guard position, is he big enough to play small forward?

At 6'6", he would seem to fit in as a 2/3 wing that can score inside and outside. I can still see him fitting with what we have in this class, even if bigger bodies like Da'ron Holmes and Mac Etienne would be the more ideal fits based on need.

Thoughts from eric bossi on Holmes's recruitment currently:

"Ranked No. 39 in the 247Sports Composite, DaRon Holmes is spending his senior year at powerhouse Montverde (Fla.) Academy after moving from Arizona. An active power forward, Holmes is down to Arizona, California, Dayton and Marquette. He's been pretty quiet about things and there hasn't been a lot leaking on his recruitment. But, if I had to handicap the recruitment I'd bet on it coming down to a two horse race between Arizona and Marquette."

I think Zaire would be best served going to a low D-1 school, where he could have a good time, and  play on a team that he could contribute immediately to with his defense. Thereby helping his team in its league games. That kind of school choice would give him the time evolve his offensive game to be more well rounded.

He has an offer from U-C Riverside and I think that Big West league would be perfect for him .

2022 6'9 Jai Smith MU offer. From Syracuse, NY, recently moved to Durham, NC (Bull City Prep). Formerly attended Bishop Ludden and ran with Albany Rocks. Split time in Florida and NC w/relatives this summer. Sy is already recruiting him.

Recent offers include Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma St., West Virginia, Texas A&M, Memphis, several others.

LOL, you've been proclaiming for years that MU should recruit him (along with Alex A.), and now this is your line?

Interview from last week with Jonas Aidoo. Says he plans to trim his list by mid-November and decide in January. Doesn't list any schools but when asked what he is looking for he said "family-based environment." I know a lot of coaches use that as a selling point but that is definitely something that we've heard from a lot of our recruits

Agreed—when I hear that phrase, I think advantage MU. One thing recruits talk about is family at MUBB......would have to believe even more so in this time.

mumi27

Sounds like both Aidoo and Holmes are a few months out from their intended commitment dates so if those two are our guys we may be waiting a bit until our next commit happens unless things change. Getting those two dudes or Etienne instead of Aidoo would be quite a nice way to finish up a recruiting class

TAMU, Knower of Ball

It definitely seems like Holmes and 1 of Etienne/Aidoo is the priority to round out the class. Now that Taylor has gone to Clemson, I wonder if we'll put more into our recruitment of St. John's Military's Brandin Podziemiski. He picked up an offer over the summer and has been playing really well as of late. Could be a good player to stash on the bench and try to develop.

@jakeweingarten: Marquette's Steve Wojciechowski and his staff are expected to complete a virtual meeting with Top-50 junior Isaac Traudt tomorrow night, Traudt told @Stockrisers.

New program entering the mix. Duke, Virginia, among newer schools involved.
