I am definitely of the gut opinion that the Etienne ship sailed when he didn't reclassify. I think we would've been the leader had he went to 2020 but are just one of myriad suitors in 2021 and not near the front anymore. Really hope that adding Gainey helps with Holmes, maybe offsetting the Stan loss as he was likely at least somewhat involved with Holmes at Arizona.

Yes, Gainey was in fact recruiting Holmes while Gainey was at Arizona. They already had an established relationship prior to Gainey re-joining Marquette. Gainey and Stan of course are friends as well.

I don’t think they put an offer out yet but it sounds like Marquette has also been in contact with center Wilhelm Breidenbach

Seems like you are right: https://nbnmagazine.com/2020-pangos-best-of-socal-summer-showcase-part-ii-2021-2022-prospects/

Quote
Breidenbach was the star of stars in the Top 20 2021 Game scoring a game-high 23 points and having a big impact on both ends.  Wilhelm (an excellent student) has indicated that Utah, Marquette, Nebraska and St. Mary’s are the programs hanging around his recruitment the most at the moment.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Oh hell yeah.  If not for anything but the name and the goggles.

Interesting, looks like he shoots jump shots righty but looked more comfortable around the rim with his left.

I am absolutely sure that Bruce Pearl would honor them.

Brian Snow has made a crystal bowl prediction of James Graham to Maryland, confidence factor 6 (medium)

24/7 shows that Jonas Aidoo has no interest in Iona.  No appetite for Italian, I guess.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Here's an idea for the fifth scholarship after MU gets a couple of big guys: get Nisine Poplar and have him redshirt.

He hasn't been playing long, but he's shown an ability to pick things up.  He just needs some development.

Dexter Akanno: the sequel?

Got sold on how well the Milwaukee-to-Maryland pipeline worked out for Diamond Stone.

Per Verbal Commits:

"8/4/2020 - 2021 SG Nisine Poplar (6-5, 175, 4★) has trimmed his list, and removed Marquette from consideration."

Too bad. Nisine will be Poplar wherever he lands.

Would he have gotten the nickname, "Creed" around these parts?

The Rickster strikes!!!

Trey James to Iona.  Could be why no more interest for Aidoo to go there.

I wonder how many of the site unseen type commitments will hold through to NLI time.

Or are back on the market following their freshman year. Especially if the NCAA waives the transfer requirement of sitting a year,

I think UCONN is going to be a problem going forward. Danny Hurley can coach (and recruit).
