They got Tyrese Haliburton in 2018 who then blew up to be a likely lottery pick.  Before that was Terrence Lewis in 2017, who has had a fairly underwhelming career thus-far, averaging a career best 6 ppg last year.  (Excluding Nick N) Before that, I believe that you have to go back to Matt Thomas in 2013 who had a decent list of high major offers (us included), but was still seen as the third best prospect in the state behind Koenig and Duane.  He had a decent college career although was never a star, and has worked himself into a nice niche role as a three point specialist with the Raptors (kind of a poor man's Novak).  Of course they've also had their fair share of MU transfers in too (Christopherson, McKay, Burton).

The transfers must also be why, because I remember even further back they had Diante Garrett and Korie Lucious.

Did we pick Mitchell over Hunter?

It appears that way as Mitchell announced his commitment date before Hunter.

I wouldn't describe it that way.  Recruited both hard.  Hunter didn't pick MU.

Lewis has transferred to South Alabama this Spring.

But Hunter did finalize his decision until after Mitchell announced that his process was ending....

You can even go back further to players like Diante Garrett and grad transfers like Kore Lucious.
Donovan Jackson too

I don't know when he decided on Iowa State.  He announced on his late moms birthday.

Daron Holmes, class of 2021 target, was working out with Markus Howard's brother

I would like to think that this is a pretty good development. DaRon Holmes is a dude.

Hoping we hear good news on Stevie Mitchell tomorrow. Villanova and Jay Wright are tough competition.

Nova has a verbal from a more highly regarded 2021 PG. Nighly doubt they're still in on Stevie.

Mitchell is ranked higher than Angelo Brizzi in both 247 and Rivals. Unless you're talking about Jordan Longino but he's a shooting guard so you're wrong either way

I didn't see those two commits. So I guess we are now competing with Stanford and it looks like they have a point guard commit.

Either way , I am hoping we receive the commitment from Stevie. Seems like an outstanding prospect.

Last time I'm talking about this I swear, but here's a blurb from the JS' article on Hunter's commitment.

"Since 2000, at least 14 players from Wisconsin have been part of the Cyclones program. Most notable is 2018 Oshkosh North graduate Tyrese Haliburton, who is projected to be a high-end lottery pick in this year's NBA Draft."

Stevie Mitchell had great success in small town suburban Pennsylvania. He then went to Philly and helped Philly Pride win the UAA 16's National Championship while also being named MVP. It took all of a few weeks playing on a higher profile team, in a higher profile location for quantity and quality of offers to role in for him. High character, high academics, unselfish baller at point guard that plays both under control and with pace. What's not to like?

Oh I'm sure the Scoop Collective will find something...

The Big East

I have invested some time in watching a couple of full game tapes of Stevie. Here is why I think he could be a very good prospect
1. He is the focal point of the opposition defense , yet he does not force things and lets the game come to him.
2. Excellent court vision, a very unselfish player who makes the extra pass.
3. Uses his exceptionally well developed handled on crossovers to create space in traffic.
4. Can score from all three levels.
5. Hustles on defense.
6. Keeps his composure in front of big crowds and does not play to the crowd.

I think with a college strength and conditioning program would benefit his upside greatly. The oung man has a history of being on winning teams both club and high school. So hopefully we hear some good news.

Yep.
And it will have absolutely nothing to do with Stevie Mitchell.

Good report, but is much like Markus Howard, off the court, good character person.
