Definitely the smart thing to do for Mane, if someone wants to take him in the first round, why would you not jump at that? Glad he's keeping his eligibility so still worth watching to see what he ultimately does.

Karim mane just entered the draft

This was always going to happen

Doubt he stays in IMO.

My thoughts as well

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

If he goes, I look forward to watching him in the NBA. He seems like a sharp young man with a solid head on his shoulders.

Given the opportunity. we would do the same thing. And, unlike Henry Ellenson, he has a chance to be a first-rounder. if that's the case, go. Period.

Otherwise, c'mon home Mr. Mane. We'd love to have you at Marquette!

I'm confused... henry was a first rounder...

Agreed. His stock was slipping before the COVID stuff. This would have been more realistic had he been able to do the in-person drills and scrimmages and build up the hype.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

If Mane goes, we can add this to the list of highly ranked prospects that Wojo has spent a lot of time and energy chasing.  And not landing.

You have to know when you get to the point to cut bait.  And I'm not sure he has a good understanding of when that point is.

I am?  How?  This has been a recurring theme under Wojo.  We are in the hunt for top prospects right up to the finalist stage...and then are often left at the alter.  More often than not, we are then left with scholarship openings.

"I sent in my paperwork, but I am keeping my options open as far as college," Mane told ESPN. "I am not planning on hiring an agent right now. I want to hear directly from teams. If I can get a guarantee I'll be drafted, I will probably need to think about staying in."

This is why Wojo is still looking at other recruits for next year.  MU got the one they needed, but you can not fault him for trying to get Mane.  Still has a chance,
but if somebody falls into his face got to take that recruit and move on.

More interested to know what Tyrese Hunter is thinking, any word?  He is one of the quickest guards I have seen in a long time.

1. That is every coach in America.
2. You have no idea the innerworkings of Wojo's recruiting philosophy.

Unless I'm misinterpreting this, this statement reads to me like him saying all he is looking for is a promise he will get DRAFTED(this is the key word), not necessarily in the 1st round, but if someone tells them they will take him, he will stay in.

That is how i am reading it. He was projected as 2nd rounder to start the year, but I haven't seen anything near that since then.

1. Not really
2. No, but I have seen the results.  Oftentimes hoping for THE recruit while others more attainable head elsewhere.

Huh?
The kid for months has said he was leaning toward college. Wojo should have known he was going to change his mind a few days before the deadline?

1. Yes really. Even the blue bloods miss out n top recruits, even though they are in the recruits Top 5.
2. I have seen the results too. Look at this year for example. We arguably have a Top 15 recruiting class. Mane was a luxury. And as you might have seen, Wojo still has his Pole in the water trying to land other recruits.
