Marquette just offered five-star junior Malaki Branham during his virtual visit with the staff, a source told @stockrisers. Ohio State, Xavier, also completed calls with him.

Izzo doesn't strike me as a top choice if you want to leave early for the NBA.  He has had plenty of high level recruits who have not sniffed the NBA even after years at Mich State.   If you want to win in college, I think he can be a good choice.  But to promote Izzo as the coach for a one and done guy I'd have to question.

I see your point, but if it's a comparison against Wojo, it's not all that close right now. Granted, Izzo has had a few more years to get guys to the NBA.

Kentucky has had a huge number of one and dones over the last several years. I suspect that all of them would also had made it, if they had gone anywhere else besides Kentucky.

I don't really even know what this means.  When he had Jaren Jackson, Jr on his team a couple of years ago, Izzo was more than supportive when he declared after his freshman year.

Izzo is like most coaches.  If you are good, he will play you.  And if you are really good when you play, you can declare for the draft.

Let's not do too many mental gymnastics about this.

Marquette has offered 2022 big man Tichyque Musaka from Valley Christian HS in San Jose. Congo native has some pretty intriguing athletic gifts. Kansas recently offered him as well. #mubb

Izzo inking a highly ranked 2021 guard.    That Mane bet is now completely hedged.

I honestly think this COULD be big..I mean what if Mane actually wants to stay in school for a couple of years??

Gee, Idk, because HS kids change their minds all the time?? Maybe he plans on being a one and done now, but he could get to college, really like it and decide to stay one more year. No one knows what these kids are thinking or going to do. It wouldn't be the first time a kid has gone to school with the intentions on being a one and done and then doesn't go for whatever reason.

Because as of now he is a second round pick. They want a first round and they think it is possible it could take 2 years.

Okay little Johnny...you have never once ever seen a kid stay in school for another year that originally thought he would be a one and done?? Mane isn't even a first rounder right now. As noted below...they think it might take him two years. You think it's impossible he stays two years, I frankly do not.

In general, I agree with you in general about this. But everything I read about Mane makes me believe that he is not planning to play 2 years in college. Also, he seems like a rather confident young man who wouldn't be deterred by a 4-star guard who won't step on campus until August 2021.

But yes, trying to get into the minds of young athletes is not easy. Doesn't stop all of us from trying to do so over and over again though, does it?

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
