Evan Daniels mail bag.....not much new here...

References Karim Mane saying he will not take any more visits until after the high school season. And he may not take any. Marquette still considered leader and his only visit.

Also mentioned MU reached out recently to 2021 Adama Sonogo. Along with many others.

Is Vanier college like an American JUCO program? What's the level of basketball? Also, does he come in as a freshman?

I reviewed Ryan Conway's EYBL stats and they're very good.

18.9 ppg
eFG%: 56.6
3 FG%: 41.9 (39-83)
FT%: 87.3 (62-71)
2.6 assists per game
1.8 turnovers per game

Conway played up a year on the same team as Justin Lewis.  Not huge assist numbers, but efficient scoring and very good shooting splits.  Better than his current ranking for sure.

119 ORtg on 24% usage. Solid.

Vanier College has both a high school and college/university from what I can gather.  Mane goes to the high school and would come in as a freshman.  Not sure how good the competition is.

Don't really know anything about AAU stats...how does that ORtg compare to other Top 150 PG's? Or other MU recruits in the past?

Thanks for this. Mane's recruitment feels as close to the vest as Dawson's

I look at each league differently... as far as EYBL this past year... some comps of 2020 guys...Reece Beekman 123 / 15.5%...Hassan Diarra 103 / 23.5%...AJ Hoggard 108 / 27%

2021s...Zion Harmon 105 / 22%...Kennedy Chandler 110 / 24%....Zaon Collins 140 / 7%

2022 Trejuan Holloman 93 / 20%.. but obviously playing up a couple of years...

Going back a year to the 2018 season... Cole Anthony 117 / 38.5%...De'Vion Harmon 112 / 21%...Symir Torrence 109 / 14%...Rocket Watts 112 / 34%

Without giving away the family farm... it depends on what you're looking for as far as team needs, but usage is very helpful for projecting the player type at the next level... once you're into the 24%-26% range, it's a good sign.. over 30% and we're feeling pretty comfortable making certain statements about a guy's usage in college.. the ORtg really can depend... but over 120 and you're feeling pretty good..

Definitely can be some guys who are even at 120 / 30% who aren't going to be ready to be impact guys... depends on situation.. their EYBL team.. next team.. why is the ORtg what it is... all depends

...2017 season.. guys in EYBL greater than 110 ORtg with 30%+ usage... Marvin Bagley.. Ayo Dosunmu... Iggy Brazdeikis.. Coby White...

Awesome post.

How do our incoming recruits look? How about Mane? Not sure if any of those guys are EYBL but just curious what their usage and Ortg is for comparison sake. Thanks in advance

Justin in EYBL... 97 ORtg.. 29% usage
Karim in UAA... 93 Ortg, 32% usage
Dawson in adidas.. incomplete. Didn't play enough in league games for meaningful #'s
Oso... no stats

Here's a fun one..
> 110 Ortg; > 30% Usage guys in 2015 EYBL...
Trae Young...Gary Trent...Michael Porter...Jayson Tatum....... and a very young Markus Howard

His production plus evaluating him in person made it pretty easy to say... #M2N

From Corey Evans

I expect William Jeffress to commit after the high school season. The playoffs begin this week for Jeffress and there is a chance that his Erie McDowell bunch makes a run to the state title. The hold-up is that he has not taken a single official visit and would like to take a handful before deciding.

Now a member of the 2020 class after officially reclassifying a few weeks back, Jeffress is just now beginning to look at his recruitment. If there is an early leader in his recruitment, it appears to be Pitt. The Panthers have hosted him the most compared to any other program and his relationship with Jeff Capel and need in Oakland is evident.

Look for official visits to be taken next month leading to a commitment and signing in April. Jeffress could also visit Baylor, Marquette, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

Seems a little odd for Wojo to be going after another 2020 forward, with three already in the mix.  We need guards.

Agreed. With strongest position first, I think it goes:

Garcia 4/5/3
Lewis 4/5
Oso 3/4

Jeffress would be 3/2, and Mane would be 2/1.

Saw a video, has a Big East body, not skinny, looks like a Villy forward.  If you can get him, take him.
