The predictions seem a bit odd. It sure seems like he enjoyed his time during the Villanova victory visit. But he's hardly been anywhere else. I like to see we're a favorite but worried things will change.

Has he? Other then the Racine kid (Hunter?) who else from Wisconsin are we recruiting?

Well, last night night MU went to see 6'5 Leon Bond, 2022 Tosa East. (As for out of state, they went to see Luke Goode in Indiana recently, etc..)

Penny will actually be visiting Mane this Sunday. Feels like things are picking up with these big boys as the intent really switched to college over NBA

Yep. That and the part where our visit went well feels like things have moved into the "show me your best offer." Hopefully Penny doesn't take this to mean real estate transactions.

For what Penny paid in moving expenses, imagine what he will pay for a student visa

per Memphis 247 board. their Mod says Penny will be visiting him this Sunday (19th) and again on the 29th

first meeting: how much money.    second meeting: deliver bag

Wojo can at least say he's had more post-season success than Penny.

That means it's official
Not only is it official but I've heard CB is so well respected that kids will change their decisions to align with CB projections.

This just indicates what a pathetic program Memphis is.  Ten days to get the money together - really!?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Not necessarily related to our recruiting, but since I know that it will come up again; the Senior PG that we just held to 1 point on 0-8 shooting was a top 100 recruit and the top recruit for a top 30 class (2016).  Just further evidence that the number of top 100 recruits does not guarantee the success of a team, or that teams coaches ability.

Where Mane ultimately goes will say a lot about the current CBB landscape. Marquette seems like the perfect fit in so many ways. If he goes somewhere else it will really be disheartening, unless that somewhere else is the NBA.

I don't think there's debate around here that top 100 doesn't mean a lot.. I think there's actually a strong consensus here that when you're talking top 20, some years top 30... those guys SHOULD pan out to be very good... after that... a bit of a crapshoot overall.

PS -.. .forgot I interviewed him back in 2014... outside shot was always a concern.

Respectfully disagree.  I have read here something along the lines of "Wojo couldn't win with more RSCI top 100 players than any other coach" way more times than I care to admit.  It was the most common arguing point for a few posters reasons for dismissing Wojo after year 1.  You can go ahead and put Goodin in with the Juan's and Sandy's of the cbb world (of which there are many).

Something a lot of people don't get.

There's no guarantee that a player will live up to their ranking.   A lot of things can negatively impact a kids development. Being over ranked, injuries, personal issues, inability to handle the level of competition, and yes, even coaching can affect the players success in reaching their expected potential. Singling out a coach as the only possible reason for a kid not meeting expectations is arbitrary, and suggests a bias.

Disagree, some posters here think the top 100 is the gold standard.

I would argue maybe the top 30.

The top 10 hits the NBA about 90% of the time
#11-30 are closer to 50%
Once you get past #50, it's in the 10-15% range
