So we've gone from "I'm worried about the minutes after Parham at the 4 next year" and "we have no beef up front to compete in the BE," to "adding a beefy, proven P5 center makes zero sense unless we cut one of the bigs or Ben moves home (for the third straight offseason)" within the matter of days I see.

I doubt there's any truth to it, but it would be great if there is.  If one of Parham or Freeman (because I don't see Ben going from starting every game this year to coming off the bench next year) decide starting isn't a priority and understand that between Parham, Gold, and Freeman there are 80 minutes to play at the 4/5 then awesome.  It also gives Clark and Caedin another year to develop, which seems necessary to me.

We have an open scholarship and I believe Shaka has said he intends to use all 15 going forward.

I'm more impressed with how far/quickly we've run with something whose only source appears to be "Iowa Discord".

No kidding.

I'll be stunned if this happens. Not because it's a transfer, but because it's hard to imagine a worse fit for our defensive scheme.

I'll be stunned if it happens as well, but Shaka did offer him out of high school.

I am feeling bullied.  What about MY feelings?

Just not feeling this one.

An Iowa fan overheard this student conversation discussing their win over Washington:

Student 1: "How did you get tickets to the game?"

Student 2: "I won them in a contest."

Student 1: "So Smart, you got in for free, man."

Iowa fan: IT'S CONFIRMED, SHAKA SMART IS IN FOR FREEMAN!

Sure, but there's a difference between getting a kid out of HS versus deprogramming him after two years in a program that is defense-optional. And get him into the required condition to play.

This is where I am at as well.
C and C are both so raw, that they can't/shouldn't be counted on to produce quite yet.
Plenty of options for playing time at 3/4/5. Could go big, could go small. I have been in the Shaka isn't changing the starting lineup or taking transfers. However, next year there is a window that could be filled. That being said....Ill believe a transfer coming to MU when it happens.

I agree.  I'm just saying that in my opinion adding a proven big to the roster makes a ton of sense.  Having two small but very quick PGs, a lot of length and athleticism on the wing, all that's lacking is some proven depth down low.  Maybe Caedin and/or Clark prove that there was no need, but those guys certainly aren't sure things at this point in my mind.

CountryRoads

Would be an interesting development to land Freeman via the portal. Split the 80 minutes between Parham/Gold/Freeman and all guys could average more than they got this year with Parham doubling his minutes. Water raises all levels. The better the team is next year, the better it will be for everyone. But I'm not falling into the portal gooning trap. That's just wasted time and wasted energy. If it happens, great. If not, also great.

While I'll never say never, one random Iowa fan online saying it might be us or Creighton for Freeman isn't exactly a smoking gun, closer to smoking dope.

I'll believe this staff is bringing a major portal piece in the next time they bring a major portal piece in and not before.

Freeman is a proven player in the Big Ten, 17 and 7, with an open scholarship why not? Hamilton and Clark I consider projects that may or may not ever play,
Amadou is a skinny wing that may never play either, so why not?
