It was the 6th game of the season when the team was 3-2.  Big deal. Predictions are guesses.

It takes a special kind of "special" to predict your team to lose to a bad high major team.

I mean, I think very few go specifically to go to the European leagues, but I think there are plenty who go knowing that if they don't stick to an NBA team they will still make a good living in the European leagues (or other international leagues).

Exactly this.  Plus, the 2 way contract opens other avenues to the NBA.

For example, Amir Coffey turned pro after 3 years.  Went undrafted and signed a 2 way contract with the Clippers.

Coffey did well enough to earn a roster spot by year 3.  He's now in his 4th year with the Clippers.

Mohammed Gueye left Washington State after 2 years to play for G League Ignite. He retained draft eligibility.

Oso has lots of options.  I hope he returns for one more year.  I'd be very surprised if plays 2 more years at MU.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Kevon Looney doesn't have a three point shot.  If Oso makes the NBA, that's the type of role he can play.  A small window, but a window nonetheless.

If Oso adds a a decent 3 point shot, his odds of making the NBA go way up.

Here's Looney's shot chart from last year.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/2021-shot-chart-kevon-looney

He took 28 mid-range (two pointers, not in the paint) shots.  He took 155 shots in the paint, the vast majority from right by the basket.  (He also took 17 three pointers.)

Panda + GoldenEagles03 debating could lead to some epic takes.  Popcorn is ready.

As it relates to Oso  - He doesn't need a three-ball or midrange shot at this stage to get drafted.  He's 20 years old, high basketball IQ, versatile, and can defend multiple positions.  I hope he stays for another year.

Looney's been brought up before as a comparison (perhaps by you?) and it's the best one I've seen.

Looney was maybe a little thicker and a better rebounder in college, and he was drafted as a 19-year-old freshman; Oso is a better finesse player than Looney was and will be 21 soon I think. But body type and overall skill set are quite similar, and Looney sure has made a nice career for himself.

If Oso decides to come back next season, one would think he'd spend a good chunk of the offseason working on 3-point shooting. Even hitting around 30% would make him so much more appealing a prospect.

What do you think Wojo could've done with kam Jones and Jonas aidoo on his team? That's a dangerous combo.

But Looney shot 42% from 3 in his one season at UCLA (on 1.5 attempts per game).  Oso shoots the same percentage on free throws.

A February collapse and a first round tournament exit.  It's Wojo, after all.

Hadn't thought about Brendan Bailey in forever, looks to be having some success in Europe although I have no idea what level this team or league is

https://www.proballers.com/basketball/player/178607/brendan-bailey

The Swedish league is terrible.  Kind of league where you play on a court with 3-4 different sets of lines on it cause its probably also used for Volleyball and Handball.  And very little defense so point averages are misleading.

Bailey was also already 23 and had a kid on the way, he was ready to proceed with his life, whatever level of BB that might be.

Wrong, he definitely has the 3 pt. shot in his bag. Because Golden State has some of the world's best shooters on there team, his value to them, and therefore his role, is to rebound, set screens, and block shots. Kevon's good fortune was to be drafted by a team that didn't need his scoring and could develop a more complete game. He also is huge having added much muscle mass.
BTW, Golden State never worked him out prior to the draft figurin' he wouldn't fall to the last pick in the first round. Meanwhile, he's rockin' 3 rings, aina?

Zaide Lowery and his squad were on ESPNU this afternoon picking up a win against the #20 team in the country.

Didn't see it advertised anywhere in time to actually watch unfortunately but here was a brief write up by Patrick O'Brien.

Wasatch 51 – La Lumiere 54

Though La Lumiere was a bit short-handed coming into the game, they competed and played extremely well, giving themselves a chance at the end.  It was all about the 3-pt shooting for La Lumiere, as 13 of their 17 made field goals come from behind the arc.  It was a tight battle throughout and tough sledding when it came to both offenses at times, but this game was tied at 51 with under 30 seconds to go before Kaleb Glenn (who finished 2-for-13 from the floor) hit what would be the game-winning three. Wasatch had a chance at the end but a big defensive play by La Lumiere helped seal the deal.

Stats:
La Lumiere: Zaide Lowery 14pts, 9rebs/ Gus Yalden 13pts, 7rebs/ Kaleb Glenn 11pts, 11rebs
Wasatch: Jeremiah Johnson 11pts/ RJ Jones 10pts/ Isiah Harwell 9pts, 5asts

Standouts/ Notes:

2023 Zaide Lowery (La Lumiere): The Marquette commit hit some big shots, going 4-for-8 from three and also snatching down nine rebounds. Really showed his ability to knock down shots with range and a confident release.

Looney & the texas guys were almost all big time rebounders. Different. Looney 42% 3fg% in college. Oso 0 attempts

Some ultra athletic (jericho). Most bigger than Oso

The portal is NOT closed.

Ellenson Guerrero

I can guarantee you that Oso will never play in the NBA.

Although I also have guaranteed that Juan Anderson, Dwight Buycks, and Jamal Cain would never play in the NBA.
