Worcester Academy is stacked, as well, so neither Tre or Kayvaun are going to have big numbers. Of what little I could find on Tre, had 15 one game, 21 another, and was on the All Tournament team with his teammate (Duke recruit). I am sure it has been mentioned  before, but Worcester Academy has a great nickname.

Not sure what it is, but they should be The Sauce.

Mulready is very very good. Started for City Rocks U17 team last year being a grade younger than the rest of the guys. They went 5-0 in their pool play of peach jam Had okay stats too 12.1ppg, 7.6Rbds, 2.8asts, 26.3mpg. Not the best shooter but he is fine. Small sample size but 45%, 32%, 70% ish.

Good thing he listed rebounding last.

This guy looks like a fantastic fit.

I think it all depends on if he likes playing with Tre Norman or not

Would be ecstatic to land Mulready. Looks like Shaka is on some fantastic players for 2024. That said I'm having a difficult time making heads or tails of the current scholarship situation. As far as possible eligibility goes, it seems to me that we have no openings in 2024 as of now. Is that correct?

Obviously a discussion for a later day, but as it currently stands our 2025 graduating class looks like this:

Oso
Kam
Joplin
Kolek
Mitchell
Omax
Ellis

The top 6 guys currently in minutes are all in the same class. Wondering how the staff is pitching this to 2024 recruits. Long way away from having to worry about it and it is a good problem to have.

Oso and O-Max will be playing pro ball somewhere by then. And at some point, there will be transfers.

It will sort itself out.

Based on the offers and number of visitors we have had, Shaka appears to be recruiting for 2024 as if all of Oso, Omax and Kolek will move on and not use the additional Covid year.

Makes sense. That's a long time to be in college.

Thanks for the update, especially on Trees performance. Wish there was a way we could get weekly box score stats on each of our three 2023 recruits.

It would be smart to recruit as if this roster will not be intact 2 seasons from now.

IIRC Pip and Dodds are not well received by this portion of the Marquette community, but this interview with Adam Finkelstein was a really good look into next years Freshman class.

It'll be interesting to see the minutes distribution because Chase and Stevie are coming on strong with Kolek and Kam already well established but Finkelstein makes if sound like Norman is the gem who won't be deferring minutes.  A wealth of talent it appears.

Question of the recruiting afficionados...

Shaka appears to be recruiting guys ranked 75+ in general no?  Are recruits at that level expecting big minutes freshmen year?

It would seem that one advantage of not recruiting 5 stars left and right is that they don't expect tons of immediate playing time.  I get they are kids and want max minutes but 15 minutes for a 3 star frosh at a high major seems acceptable?

Zaide Lowery is the only 3 star of the bunch according to 247.

Amadou and Norman are 4 star.

Norman in particular as noted by Adam Finkelstein in the video above is one of the more underrated prospects of the class.  He's a true combo guard with an elite build and motor.  His teammate TJ Power is a 5 star committed to Duke and yet Tre was voted the unanimous MVP of the team.

He's going to get major minutes.  The other 2 are up in the air in terms of Freshman impact, likely depending on whether or not OMax and/or Oso are back next season.

Maybe we should pump the brakes on who is going to be getting major minutes next year. I was repeatedly told that Sean Jones was going to be getting big minutes - might even start - by some here, and that Chase Ross could be a redshirt candidate. Instead it is looking like Ross is the one who is going to be making the largest impact as a freshman. Though admittedly there are MANY games left to play.

Don't get me wrong, I love Oso...

...but are NBA guys in the 2020s really interested in a 6'9" center who hasn't shown any sort of outside shot?

Sean Jones is a 5'9" point guard only, getting 13 minutes per game behind the best point guard in the conference.

Tre Norman is a 6'3" combo-guard that can play 1-3.

There are more professional leagues than just the NBA.  Oso will be in the mix for a 2 way contract or quality foreign league at the least.

Yes, but we will potentially be returning our entire back court, plus our two guards off the bench, plus Ellis off a red-shirt.  To many unknowns right now that will get sorted in the next 10+ months before Norman plays his first game.

Oso's NLI money will be better then Europe low leagues, until he adds an outside shot, lets say a 15 footer, best to stay in school.
