I told you they were going to "fluff" his arse......

Hopefully playing time is important and not the Carolina B.S. about playing multiple lead guards......

I am sure when multiple forwards are in......They talk about playing some kind of Golden State no position B.S......

After Jordan......name me some Carolina guards......

Wade.....Butler......Rivers.....Markus......We stack up pretty close......

Vince Carter, Coby White, Danny Green, Harrison Barnes.

It's not like they don't have an NBA presence.

Yeah, I think the statement that MU stacks up close with UNC since Jordan isn't really accurate.  Not sure how relevant it is either.

These were the ones I could think of. There are at least a few that are at 9 years this season, some which are really surprising given their record like Pat Chambers

Syracuse: Jim Beoheim (41st)
Michigan State: Tom Izzo (25th)
Notre Dame: Mike Brey (20th)
Villanova: Jay Wright (19th)
Florida State: Leonard Hamilton (18th)
Baylor: Scott Drew (16th)
Purdue: Matt Painter (15th)
West Virginia: Bob  Huggins (13th)
Arizona: Sean Miller (11th)
Virginia: Tony Bennett (11th)
Clemson: Brad Brownwell (10th)
Colorado: Tad Boyle (10th)
Creighton: Greg McDermott (10th)
Iowa: Fran McCaffery (10th)
Oregon: Dana Altman (10th)

Not many, and a bunch of them reached the current level of winning success by keeping things in tact.

Purdue fans wanted Painter out badly.  Wright, check out media and fans wanting him out.  Tony Bennett couldn't win enough..he plateaued.  Etc etc
"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

Jordan > Wade. They have a slew of players that are as good as Butler, more that were as good as Rivers and Markus hasn't played a day in the pros.

Spot on.  This can be over come tho.  See Villanova, MU in the 70's.
Another reason MU's meltdown was so painful last year.  A Big East championship n a W or two in the NCAA makes recruiting significantly easier.  But some wish the Hauser's well, i scratch my head on that one.

The 70's are long gone, and the college basketball landscape is as different now from then as a farm developed into a subdivision.  Al saw the changes coming, and its a big reason why he left when he did.

Also, MU was a blue blood in those days.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Slow recruiting news days are the worst. Nothing really out there on the wire that I've been able to find. No visits. No trickle of news outside of the news of the visit to see JBF yesterday.

Won't be slow for much longer.

Anyone go to the Chicago reception tonight? I got stuck in meetings so was unable to make it.

Danny Green......really......

Kobi White.....Drafted in the Top 10......But isn't starting.....

Vince Carter.....probably the best......better than Butler......questionable......

Of course there is Jordan.....But Wade is in the top 20 all time.....

My point is.....Roy is all about marketing.....that lead guard stuff was all BS......He is going to change his system for one player after 30 years of coaching......Oh.......I guess he has seen the light......

Well, it is all about marketing. That's exactly what recruiting is: selling the kid -- and his parents -- on your program. In the recruiting process, perception usually matters more than fact.

Yep, Dr. B. But the good news is that the NCAA, in their great and unmatched wisdom, has taken the 2016 Division III football title away from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor because a coach let a player use his car.

Obviously, that's worse than keeping athletes eligible by funneling hundreds and hundreds of them into bogus classes for years.

Rivals Future Cast is for entertainment purposes only, but I'll note Zach Berry picked Davis to UNC 2 days ago. No idea his track record.

He's an Ole Miss football insider. From what I can tell, he's gotten his last 20 picks correct for both football and basketball....but every single one of them was within 10 days of the commit. Seems like a guy who waits until a recruit is about to commit and it's pretty well known where he is going. This smells like a "I heard this basketball recruit I've never heard of is about to commit and he just visited a blue blood so he must be going there" pick. Which isn't a bad way to make a guess...but I'd be more concerned if Corey Evans switched his pick.

I agree. If I see Miller or Corey Evans change his pick, I will be concerned. Hoping that the "trending" is that they read the same 247 article we did about his visit.

What I will say though, I doubt Davis has made his decision yet. If I had to guess, he's deciding between the "safe" route at Marquette and the "risky" route at North Carolina. Marquette has an All American on it's roster who is graduating whose size and game look awfully similar to Davis'. There is a Davis size hole on our roster next season and we've shown that a player like him will get highlighted. At North Carolina, he's already their second PG in the 2020 recruiting class. UNC will always bring 5 and high 4 stars in every year, and there is already 2 former 4-star PGs on their roster who will be sophomores when he arrives. He will be competing for Final Fours every season but he may be doing it from the bench as an underclassmen. Or he might prove the rankings wrong and play big minutes right away, I personally think he could.

I'll be honest, this thought process doesn't give me much comfort. My experience with working with high school and college age men is that they will usually choose to bet on themselves. They haven't had enough failures in their life yet to make them want to take the safe route.

I don't have Rivals access but this implies that Garcia will be visiting MU before making his decision.

Did Dawson cut his list down again?  Last I saw it was at 7 and then he eliminated UNC.
