Probably easier logistically. They have 2 days to get the teams from selection to the location, so having one static location likely makes that easier. You have more flexibility with the rotating locations because there are 4-5 days to prep travel. At least that's my guess.

Yeah, and I also think that since Dayton has really rallied around it, there really is no reason to change.

Except that all of the locations are selected months (if not years) in advance, and any team that is a play-in is going to have to scramble a little no matter where the play-in spot is going to be.

But I guess your answer makes as much sense as any.
Have some patience, FFS.

I say let Dayton have their play-in and their Big East dreams. It's a reason for them to get out of bed every morning. Cruel to deny them.

The Big 12 and UConn are talking again. Would not be added for football until the next media rights deal...or at least for a few years.

I've said it before,  Yormack it's the biggest threat to the current iteration of the Big East. I don't know if he can convince the schools,  but he truly believes the B12 needs to go all in on basketball

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

If so, I hope the BE has a buyout like Wojo's.

That would be a blow to the Big East but was bound to happen.

I thought it was a major payout if UCONN left, but they might be in long enough that it's gone down. Have we finalized our media deal or was it just close?

I think as long as the major conferences are not taking basketball only schools, the Big East will be fine. I also feel if they do go that route, MU might be attractive to the Big 12.

I think it was finalized but I would guess there are provisions to protect the networks.

If the reports in the past were correct, Yormark loves the idea of adding basketball schools, the ADs and presidents not so. Meetings with Gonzaga never amounted to anything. Not saying it will not happen, but Yormark meeting with schools is not an indication of anything actually happening.

It make the most sense for the BigXII to wait on the ACC shakeout before moving on UCONN. Much better assets to be had for football and the BigXII knows that.

ESPN has previously considered adding more money to the Big 12's television deal, according to broadcasting sources briefed on the talks. ESPN is located in Bristol, Conn., just 40 miles from Storrs.

Just kind of sucks. I know many think the big east will be fine. I agree kind of. Will it survive? Sure? Thrive? Just don't see it. Villanova and jay wright carried the hell out of the big east pre u conn. Now jays gone and UConn is the hottest program in the country significantly raising the big east prestige. Sucks not being in a big time conference if UConn left. Wish we could join acc big 12

;D

ESPN employees wished decisions were actually made in Bristol.

No question about that. UConn has really elevated profile of the conference. Would be a big hit if they leave. BE would need a big replacement to fill those shoes. Not many viable options out there.

Big East thrived prior to UCONN'S arrival.   They went in with open eyes when they allowed the football playing state school return home.   Val has shown many times to be competent and on top of things.    I expect that there was an entire plan formulated for this eventuality.

You nailed it.

I think Johnny B forgot that there are a number of teams not named Villanova in the BE that play very high level bball, and one of them is in Milwaukee. The BE is not a sinking ship if UCONN leaves. Anyone here that honestly believed that UCONN was committed to the BE for the long run?

Thrived, nonetheless.

We're in much different territory than 2013 but keep the optimism up

Whether you want to believe it or not it isn't good for the Big East.

How about the Big East go after Kansas?  With the recent losses of major programs from the Big 12, how attractive are they really?  It's not a good football conference anyway.

UCONN belongs in the Big East.
