Love this powerful video that encapsulates Jimmy while being placed to the music of Eminem.
He had a hard life. Finally got a late growth spurt. A family took him in which kept him from completely going off the rails when he was kicked out of the house by his mother. Came to Marquette from a Juco as a skinny 6'7 kid with raw talent and the willingness to work. Marquette showed him the way and he took it from there.
Last pick in the 1st Round. Starts with limited minutes as a defensive specialist his first couple years on Derick Rose's team. Each year he keeps coming and coming with a deep burning desire and the accompanying work ethic his stay at Marquette taught him.
Turned down long-term contracts only to get max contracts later. Derick Rose's team becomes Jimmy Butler's team.
Lots of money made, Olympic gold medal, All-Star Appearances. Yet he's never satisfied and at 33 he takes a team no one took serious all the way to the NBA Finals. This man is an inspiration to all of us! So proud to call him a fellow alumni of Marquette!
