Kind of wild to include the Kinks in here and not Pink Floyd or Queen. Very influential group, but not on the same level as the other 4 in my opinion.

I’ve never cared much for the Stones, the Beatles I appreciate their trailblazing but they’ve always been a bit repetitive for me. I liked The Who quite a bit for a time, but don’t find myself revisiting them much.

Zepplin on the other hand I adore. I dabbled when I was younger but have gained so much more appreciation over time. And that’s with thinking that Jimmy Page was probably the sloppiest soloist of the guitar icons of his day. But the brilliance of so many pieces of their songs, Bonham’s insane drum fills (parts of When the Levee Breaks are just silly), and the ambitious dreaminess of their lyrics. They get my vote hands down

Another vote for Zepplin, with Pink Floyd a photo finish away.

And yeah - Pink Floyd and Queen should definitely be on the list instead of the Kinks.

Uh oh...

None of the aforementioned move me.   I could have gone with none of the above, I guess.

Oasis. In the UK they were as big as the Beatles. 2.5 million people applied for tickets to see them at Knebworth in 1996.  The sold out the England Be Here Now tour dates in 10 minutes.

Oasis had a monster peak, but they were a shooting star. Their run was real only only 5 years from late 94 to the end of the 90s. By Standing on the Shoulders of Giants they lost 2 founding members and the album did ok by their standards, and then Heathen Chemistry was largely forgotten. They went from selling millions of albums outside the UK to 100-200K. And that was still early 2000s so streaming wars hadn’t begun in earnest.

Compare that to The Who or Zepplin who lasted a decade plus at their heights.

Saw Oasis on the Brotherly Love Tour with Black Crowes and Spacehog.

I’ve probably seen close to a thousand live shows and that sticks out as the singular loudest.
