Illinois is one long, sorry a$$ state.

In 1982, drove one June night from SB to Milwaukee, made it to Real Chili at close. Ate it at The Swamp, and returned home to SB.  No beer was involved  :o ;)

SB?  South Bend?

ND sucks.

It also depends on how you define "Chicago." You talking Gold Coast or Englewood?

I guess I'm talkin' about downtown -- Mag Mile, River North, West Loop or the like. But I lived in Lakeview and that was pretty cool, too. Many great areas of the city, but if I'm talkin' "attractive" I guess I mean where all the architecture is and/or the lake is.

It's National Fried Chicken Day, my brothers.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/food/2019/07/05/national-fried-chicken-day-2019-chicken-deals-free-delivery-and-more/1653451001/

For Spring Break, we were in Florida .. we were stocking up at the grocery store and needed dinner, so I grabbed grocery-store fried chicken.   It. was. delicious.

Fast forward a few months and my wife took the kids to the grandparents, so I'm going to get dinner someplace they wouldn't eat.  KFC.  I hit the one on North avenue.  I sit in the drive thru lane for 20 minutes .. each car is taking 5 minutes.   I get up to the speaker and the gal says "uhhh, this is gonna take a while."    So, like others ahead of me, I drove off.

So I hit the Popeye's on Capitol.  I walk in .. it's like a needle scratching across the record, as I'm, um, the only ummm Irish guy in the joint.  There is bullet proof glass surrounding the cashiers.  The line was 8 deep and after 45 seconds I tip-toed out the door.

I ended up going to Pick n' Save and buying their fried chicken.  It was OK.

The end.

My guess is that's how many not-Irish guys feel most of the time, not just in Popeyes

I'm with you on the great architecture in Chicago. Some pretty awesome buildings. But when I think about the most "attractive" part of a state, I'm usually thinking about mountains, rolling hills, sweeping views, waterfalls and the like.

In Wisconsin for example, I am partial to the driftless area in the southwest corner of the state.

Fair enough, and that's why I said it depends upon how one defines "attractive."

Another example, I happen to really like a desert landscape, so I think many parts of the Phoenix area are attractive. But my wife hates the desert and thinks it's all ugly. Tomato, tomahto.

What a great time to be alive.

Good on the creator for shutting it down.....but....that technology already exists and it's awful. My office has handled two cases in the last year of people who created deepfakes of their ex girlfriends and posted them online. In one of the cases the video was sent to family members and an employer. There is no good reason for that technology to exist. It can only be used for evil.

Did you ever take a wrong turn and find yourself in a different thread of the multiverse?

Kinda freaked me out....

So, I have two male friends who both happen to be attorneys and both happen to be married to men. They don't know each other. One is a work friend and the other is a buddy from school.

Over the weekend my school friend posted on Facebook a picture of himself, his husband, and Pete Buttegieg. Pete was making a campaign stop in New Orleans (my friend's home town) and my friend got to introduce him.

Today at work I saw my other friend. I knew he had gone to Iowa over  to visit his husband's family, and I asked him if he had a good weekend.

"I had a great time, and you will never guess who I got to talk to!" He pulled out his phone and showed me a picture of himself, his husband, and Pete Buttegieg.

Have some patience, FFS.

Small world knowing two people in very different places meeting him like that. Very cool for your friends.

Texarkana, TX is closer to Chicago than it is to El Paso.

This blew my mind!

I'm pretty good with geography and understanding spacial differences... but this one got me.

Alaska is twice the land size of Texas at high tide.  At low tide, it's 3x Texas.

Bus tour guides = truth.

At least if she was hot. If not, a bit of healthy skepticism is warranted.

At least the tour guides on the boats in the Dells tell you up front that half of what they say is BS.
