So they legalized recreational weed in Illinois. https://www.apnews.com/7b793d88f3c84417b83db0f770854960

Probably will make life a lot easier for the DePaul fan.

Interestingly, nearly half the people I've mentioned this to in the last couple weeks had no idea it was legalized.  I don't hang out with hippies, however.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

They've already sold the Skyway and the parking meters. Need money.

City Hall was sold 100 years ago.

Wait ... I thought priviatization was a good thing.

(Also, for the record, the state didn't sell the Skyway or the meters. That was city of Chicago. And they were sold, they were leased).

The Skyway lease is for 99 years. The parking meter lease is for 75 years. It's constructively a sale
Have some patience, FFS.

It is. I'm sure the companies who leased them for the next 75 or 100 years will run them more efficiently than the city did and make tons of money. That doesn't change the fact that the city killed a couple of present and future cash cows to cover shortfalls. Maybe tax $ on weed will make up for those losses but the fact remains they are running out of places to find money.

The NM thread being a perfect place to get legal opinions:

We were travelling today and stopped at McDonalds.   As I'm looking for my next career move, I noticed they had a sign to hire folks, $10 wage for 18+ year olds .. but 16-17 years old get $9.

Now .. I understand $9 for 14-15 y/o with a work permit thing, but .. If I was 17 working along side an 18 year old, I'd want equal pay for equal work.

Isn't their scheme age discrimination?

What state?

In many of them, you are allowed to pay may be able to pay someone under 18 less money.

Back when I was 17, 17 year-olds needed work permits, too.

Federal law doesn't prohibit discrimination based on age until 40+. Same in any state I've ever heard of. It's not illegal to discriminate against people because they're young.
