Mrs. 82 and I used to host a SB party for 4-5 other couples.

Three years ago, when the Panthers were in it, it was too intense. Screaming ... cursing ... threats of physical violence ... and those were just the women! (It's a great punch line, but I'm not kidding!!)

Vowed not to host another, and haven't. However ... the 2 of us were just going to have some ribs (smokin' 'em right now), some homemade mac&cheese and a few beers. But a few hours ago, one of our neighbors asked if we wanted to go out somewhere and watch the game. So we ended up inviting them here instead. They'll be arriving any minute.

Shouldn't be as bad as 2016. Panthers aren't playing and these are very casual fans. It's just an excuse for a get-together. I think.

5:45 am at the Stoned Crab Pub in Rawai having my first cup of coffee. It could be worse. It could have been an afternoon game. May be ready for a beer and breakfast by halftime.

So does everybody here plan to spend the evening at some sort of Super Bowl party - hosting, going to friends' or a bar? My plans - a quiet evening channel surfing with the missus.

My interest in football and the SB hype has faded to the point where I just can't get excited about it. Not a political thing about Kap, or a moral thing over head injuries, or a "sick of the Patriots" thing. I used to LOVE football and the SB, but have gradually gotten less interested as the years have passed. And I get tired of the hype over everything from the commercials to the halftime show.

So get the he!! off my lawn and tell me what y'all are doing.

For myself football season ended after the Alabama/Clemson game.

Went out to dinner with the family to celebrate mom's birthday.  Got a table right away at the local steak joint that usually has a 30-45 min wait on a weekend evening.  Only two other tables occupied, though the bar was half full. 

Someone in the bar started plugging the jukebox with 70's tunes during the halftime show... for a moment I actually thought Supertramp was making a surprise appearance and just started playing over Maroon 5.  Other than that, no one seemed to care.
