I beg to differ.  The odds of winning with one ticket are 1 in 292,201,388.  The odds of winning if you buy two tickets are 2 in 292,201,388.  I'm math illiterate, and even I can tell you that the odds are twice as good if you buy two tickets.  Now, drop a sawbuck, and the odds start looking pretty good.

I've gotten 4 out of 6 numbers twice. Each time got $80.

I'll play once in a while. For $2, it's a cheap 5 minute mental vacation. And.... somebody has to win it.

I swear the wide-spread use of teal on this board has totally destroyed some of your sarcasm detectors.

That said, I wouldn't say "never".  Actually a really interesting read.

That was an interesting read.  Thanks for posting.

Yeah, it's long, but I enjoyed it.  Some one sent it to me a few weeks ago.

Here's a "teaser" for others:  "That's when it hit him. Right there, in the numbers on the page, he noticed a flaw—a strange and surprising pattern... written into the fundamental machinery of the game. A loophole that would eventually make Jerry and Marge millionaires..."

TL/DR:  Retiree finds flaw in lottery; forms LLC to exploit flaw; profits.

I would think a disabled person would be extraordinarily careful with something like that, so I'd imagine that's a dumb videotaped stunt.

That brings up an interesting topic. What is the strangest connection you have with well known people.

I have a couple, I've met Chance the Rapper before because he went to the same school as one of my best friends, and this one is more of a stretch but someone I used to work at camp with is married to Jim Deshaies daughter.

I was at a charity dinner about 4 years ago with my wife and then 6 month old son.  We were early and as we were waiting in the lobby, I excuse myself to the restroom. While I am gone, a man comes over and asks my wife if he can hold the baby.  My wife says sure.

After the guy leaves, someone walks over to my wife and says, "I see you've met coach." It was Wojo that held my son.

Others:

Ran into Cal Ripken in the Milwaukee airport a couple years ago.  He was in town for a charity event.

Worked in local Madison television with a sports reporter and anchor who now works for NHL Network & MLB Network.

Another one of my co-workers used to be roommates with Steve Levitan, who worked at the Madison ABC back in the 80's.

Crossed paths with Wade a number of times in college, including once when my friends and I got in line at Marquette Gyros after bar time and Wade was right in front of us.

~40 years ago, we had a commercial filmed in the back yard of my boyhood home.

Gordon Jump (WKRP in Cinci / Maytag Repair Man) was the star of that commercial.

I did, too.

Chatted with a pregnant Rachel Weisz for maybe 5 minutes at JFK baggage terminal maybe a week or two before she won her Oscar in 2006.  She was a very nice, gracious person.  I was surprised no one else approached her.

I mean, they did chat for a bit before he asked to hold the baby.  And it was the Al's Run captain's dinner, not just some random meeting on the street.

I'll skip my MU-related moments and encounters:

I've been a guest in Vince Lombardi's old house just outside of Green Bay.

I was in the Orange Bowl when Flutie threw his "Flutie effect" pass to Gerard Phelan.

I was in Philly just before the big Legionnaires' Disease outbreak in '76.

tower912

I yelled at Paul Molitor to get his ass back on defense during a pick up basketball game at the Rec Center.

During the 2004 presidential campaign, John Kerry used the fire station I was at as his base of operations for his day of campaigning.   Chatted sports with him, saw him barefoot and in slacks and a t-shirt  between media opportunities.    Chatted with Senator Carl Levin, there to support Senator Kerry.    Senator Levin wore brown Dr. Scholl's with a gray suit.   Made me laugh.    Governor Granholm still owes me a diet Pepsi.    After walking back into the fire station after the outdoor media opportunity on a very hot day, she was pulling at her blouse and saying 'Geez, it is f'ing roasting out there.'     So I bought her a diet Pepsi from the station store.

If you know exactly where to look, you can see what I think is me for a nanosecond in the movie "Thirty Minutes or Less."
