I'm watching a show and a character sets a trap by spilling gasoline in a line to a bigger pool of gas.  Light a match on one end, poof.

Does that even work?  I mean, maybe if the gas was poured perfectly, no gaps, sure, but people on TV never are that careful.

Asking for a friend.

Yes, an accelerant works, but it has to be lit carefully. A cigarette, for instance, is not hot enough and would extinguish before the trail caught fire (sorry Usual Suspects intro). A match could work, but if dropped, could extinguish in the air or before the fumes light (the fumes of the gas are what actually burn).

Because it's the fumes that burn, the line doesn't have to be perfect. A small gap in the trail wouldn't really matter as long as it was still close together because the fire is actually moving at a slight distance above the fluid, not directly through it.

***CLARIFICATION***

If the character setting the trap is Wile E. Coyote, it will not work no matter what.

I only use this method if there are no anvils handy.
Have some patience, FFS.

Can’t do green peppers eeeeuuwww. Right up there with the red delicious. Caramelized sound great. Add some pepperoni and sausage....now you’re talking.

Yellow peppers. Just a hint of sweetness.

I can confirm this is accurate.  Even if it appears there is a gap in the liquid itself, as long as you even see there is dampness on the ground surface, there is often enough of the fumes evaporating that the flames will continue to spread.

Er... so I'm told.   ::)

Carmelized onions, peppers and mushrooms.

Sorry...no bacon 🥓

Is this a vegetable garden or a pizza?  Why do you only put my food's food on your pizza?  This is wrong.

Speaking of pizza toppings... The "documentary" What the Health proclaims eating processed meat increases your chances of colorectal cancer by 18% as one of their attempts to stop people from eating cute cuddly animals.  Presumably because of warm touchy feelings animals actually posses and also global warming or something.

What they don't tell you, is that your lifetime risk for colorectal cancer if you eat processed meats every single day of your life is around 6% vs 5% for everyone else (hence 18% higher).  I don't know about you guys, but that extra 1% seems worth it to me.  I'd rather be happy and live a shorter life than live a long miserable one.

This was the entry on my Argyle Sweater daily calendar yesterday.

Can someone please explain the joke to me?

No Arby's around here.  The only one in the area closed a few years ago, so no Arby's fans.  Showed it around the office and nobody else got it, either.

Interesting question.  I'm not sure because by the time they are my food, it is too late to ask.  Some of them would definitely eat regular onions though if given the opportunity.

Stranger Things.

Got it.  Otherwise, I was going to point out that a) the dumping of the gasoline was being mimed, and b) I'm of the impression that a Mr. Mime going up in flames is actually a good thing.

On a related note, dissolving some styrofoam peanuts into the gasoline would be much more effective at creating the conflagration stream you're your "friend" is looking for.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

So your food would eat my food, and you would eat your food after it has turned my food into your food, yet you scoff at eating my food yourself?

I guess I just like to eliminate the middleman sometimes....

Scrolling through this thread, it occurs to me that we have WAY too many All Americans. I propose that we raise the post number for AA status. And for whomever doesn't make the cut, we can just retire their jerseys.

Was just on Facebook and a friend was talking about working on the latest Arby's ad... should have known. It's a Minneapolis ad agency and a bunch of other Minneapolis groups that do these Arby's ads... Minnesota comes through again!

So if you get an Apple credit card, you are advised to treat it with care that would make a newborn infant envious. Maybe I’ll get one and just lock it in a padded, felt-lined vault.
