Wojo could make a bold statement and show up to gym while Cal is there today. Show some love to Herro. Joey wanted to play with Herro I know that for a fact.

He had a chance to.  He declined.

What does the IWB have to say about all this? Does his still have his own forum?

I'm waiting for Columbo's   take on all of this.
From the beginning I felt this recruitment was going to be about the team chemistry that we felt with QG and vice versa. QG had to feel that MU was a special place with a great group of guys that would allow him to optimize his career.  Our guys had to buy into the idea that QG was going to take them places as well.

I never saw any evidence that our current guys were all that excited about Grimes and really encouraging him. They are not dumb, they know it meant one of them was going to cut.  We have some really talented guys with real upside and thus no one on our team was doing cartwheels to encourage Grimes to join the team. Grimes has been all about the attention etc. and we just didn't fit into that mold.

So while Grimes came here and saw that we are actually a big time athletic program, there was nothing special or no really tight connection that would take it to the level of us closing the deal with him. Maybe that is a good thing. Grimes is a quality player but we have the same level on our team.

I am  a big fan of Greg Elliot. Elliot produced at a high level in a tough  high school conference as a boy amongst men. He still has a way to go physically, but when he gets to the level of playing as man against men in college, he is going to be a very spectacular player both offensive and defensively  for MU.  I also like the fact that he is one of the most unselfish players I have seen in many many years. So to my way of thinking we will have a Sophomore next year with huge upside who plays in a team concept versus a one and done mentality kid.

I have no idea if the team responded to Grimes in this way but I absolutely endorse the analysis  in the last paragraph.  It seems obvious despite the fact that someone seems to transfer every year that over-signing when there is not a current volunteer to transfer/quit would,at the very least, not be ideal for team chemistry this year.  As mentioned earlier, just from seeing Izzo go full throttle on recruiting him, and the scouting reports and what he has showed so far sophomore Elliot could be special.

Wojo knows the truth about Herro and his AAU coach, does not want any part of this situation.  Likes Bo and Gard, not like Buzz.

I'm sorry, but reading through this incredible thread, I did not realize you were present with Grimes on his official visit to observe his interactions with the players, staff and coaches.  Or were you and didn't mention that?  Maybe you are the limo guy who picked him up from the airport or something, but my guess is your reasoning is based upon your usual internet searches and comprehending and making your conclusions on typed up info.

Grimes is a Top Ten prospect and those usually are one and done.  If he doesn't commit, the sole purpose of these top teir kids are avenues direct to the NBA.  MU will be fine

I was present , saw all the body language and spoke with contacts on the team. Other than that I don't know much.

ATL MU Warrior

There is a rather well-known former MU legend who was #3, isn't there?

Grimes is a lock for MU.

Or, he's not coming.

Either way, the sun will come up tomorrow.

My understanding is that our guys did a very good job presenting the case that we have a family oriented culture and that MU is a special place with real history. BTW, Todd does a great job on these recruiting visits, as he is a very good sales person for the program. If the parents are heavily influencing/making the decision, I think our chances are higher, as they truly understand what we are bringing to the table. If the kid is making the decision, I think our chances are less as kids  are prone to flights of blue blood fancy. Also his relationships with our players are just not as deep as they are with Texas. He fully understands that he will get the keys to the car on day 1 here, which still might be enough to get him over the goal line, although Texas is making that same pitch.

Nonetheless, I think we have made a good investment in recruiting this young man. Puts us in a better neighborhood and you never know what can come down the road in future years.

Well that's funny, because I don't recall you talking about team body language in your "understanding" of the visit, as noted above.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)
