No I definitely don't think he would. I'm just asking what the rule is, because at face value I would think giving a recruit court side seats would be an impermissible benefit. You don't have to be a dick about it.

I really just don't know how the rule works.

Guys guys guys, this is a weekend of happiness! Let's not get hostile. Positive thoughts only

Agreed, why would anybody talk about an impermissible anything on a big recruiting visit is beyond me.

DJO's Jaw

Why you're being a douche is beyond me.

Well, here's what we know.  However he got those tickets it was 100% above board and legit.  Hope he has fun.

Totally agree. Forget I brought it up.

Gotta have a Debbie Downer.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Well, at last night's open practice Sam Hauser made a half court shot to win someone tickets to tonight's Bucks game. So using the UNC Corollary, all you need to do is set up another contest where someone hits a half court shot to win tickets for someone who may or may not be good at basketball.  Boom! Permissible benefit.

Anybody know where QG is sitting?
Been looking for him on the TV broadcast and haven't seen him yet...

And when my wife asked me why I was watching an NBA game (hate the NBA) and I told her the reason, she told me I need to get out more.
She may or may not be wrong.

Near sideline all the way on the right corner. Would be tough to see him from the birdseye angle. Maybe the back of his head

As for the get out more...don't worry we are only 3 weeks till the season starts. Get out to the BMOHBC or your local pub to watch the game

I know that I just am curious if having a top 50 recruit around that would potentially be his partner in crime would help seal the deal. I imagine that at the other visits the recruits weren't a driving distance away and had a valid reason they can visit without giving the NCAA notice all the time.
Just goofing around—I don't know to answer the original question—I hope he is for the reasons that you brought up.

So how would we go about giving him those tickets without it being an impermissible benefit?

Universities can provide entertainment for a recruit and two legal guardians while on their official visit. It must take place within 30 miles of campus. I'm not sure what the restrictions are on "entertainment" (looking at you Pitino), but taking a recruit to a local sporting event seems like its on the up and up.

Where do recruits and parents stay on visits?  I would guess recruits stay on campus and parents at the Hilton (marketing partner of MU Athletics)?

It would be a real shame if the Hilton was booked and Marcus Corp could only find room for the Grimes family at the Pfister.

They own the Pfister too.

MUMountin

Given the great timing of having the Cavs (with two MU alums in their starting lineup) in town last night, was that entirely coincidental, or did MU suggest this weekend for his visit?  How much is scheduling the recruits' choice, and how much does the school get to suggest/choose the date for a visit?

If this was pure coincidence, great.  If MU pushed this weekend partly for that reason, even better.

Okay, so any interaction with Wade/Crowder or LeBron/Jabari/Thon?

I've also heard Grimes left before tipoff for dinner at Wojo's.

+1

At shoot around, not game.

TinyTimsLittleBrother

So this also likely answers how he would have received tickets to the game.  He likely didn't because I believe entertainment expenses are limited to a certain value, and that value is almost certainly less than front row NBA tickets.

He was admitted to the shoot-around and he left before game time.
