Yes, it sucks to have great opportunities to play a sport, get their education paid for, lifelong connections to alumni, free food, training, tutors.  Suckage is so understating how horrible it is for these students.

Hey Banny McBannerson! Get off the effen board!!!

Either that, or write another heartfelt apology saying how much you've changed.

“Now, of course, I’m gonna be going hard after some other players in my class trying to get them to join me. I’m gonna be talking to Zion (Williamson). I feel like me and Quentin Grimes would play well together and Romeo Langford too. Those are the players I’m focusing on for now,” wrote Dotson, ready to play the role of recruiter for Kansas.

Grimes, a 6-5 senior combo guard from College Park High in The Woodlands, Texas, who is ranked No. 11 nationally by Rivals.com, made an official visit to KU on Friday through Sunday after previously visiting Texas and Kentucky. He’s headed to Marquette for a final official visit next weekend.

No chance. Dotson obviously waited until the day Grimes’s visit to Kansas started to send the message that he’s no longer needed in Lawrence and Dotson is the BMOC there.

Pretty standard piece on a successful official visit. "Had a great time" "Staff was great." "Got to talk to all the players" type stuff. Important pieces in their are that his mom confirmed that they are heading to Marquette on Thursday and that according to her, they would like to make a decision before the end of 2017. Also, mentioned that they saw extended family in the Kansas City area.

Don't know if it's been posted here.  I believe his mom went to high school in Russell, Kansas, which is about 200 miles west of Lawrence off of Interstate 70.

I do think it's possible that the staff wanted him to wait until Grimes got onto campus so they could immediately spin it as a good thing. Better for KU than the Quinerly and Quickley commits where the schools either had no chance or had to wait to explain how it would work. KU had time to have a plan in place to make it look like they planned to play Grimes and Dotson together all along.

I think schools like Arizona, Kansas, and Kentucky are fairly used to having really high level kids commit while recruiting other really high level kids at similar positions. And I think kids who are considering Kansas, Kentucky, and Arizona know that there will be competition for minutes if they choose those programs.

I don’t think Dotson was sending a message to Grimes that he just got Grimes’s spot, but I also don’t think Kansas had any say in when Dotson committed so they could “spin” it.

Unless Adidas paid for his dad’s trip the prior week.

It just seems to me like the backcourt at KU is really, really crowded now.  Grimes could go there and play 10 minutes a game.

I also don't think he was sending a message to Grimes, but considering Dotson committed to Self and Townsend on Wednesday in person before announcing a few days later right after Grimes arrived on campus, I'd be surprised if they didn't talk about the announcement.

It is, but KU fans are insistent that Malik Newman is going pro and that LaGerald Vick is 50-50 to go pro. If both go, Grimes would be a shoe in to start (assuming Langford doesn't also commit). From everything I have heard, Newman is a great kid. But he wasn't even the best freshman at Mississippi State and he'll be a 21 year old 6"3 SG whose only played off the ball his entire career when he declares. He would have to be an All American to go in the first round and one of the best in the country to go in the 2nd IMHO.

Grimes' mother saying they will commit in 2017 is interesting. If he commits to KU or UK he is rolling the dice on who will and won't come back. Could be a good sign for us.....or maybe its not.....all tea leaves at this point.

But seriously, KU fans are nuts. They think both Graham and Newman will average 18+ points, at least 4 of their players are going pro, Charlie Moore/Sam Cunliffe/the Lawson brothers are all garbage players because they transferred in from lesser programs (but not Newman), they run the cleanest program in D1, landing a top PG will hurt other schools' chances with their PG targets but if KU does it helps their chances, and Grimes would be selfish if he delayed committing until the Spring (if he's nervous about playing time he should verbally commit but not sign so he can help recruit Langford and Williamson). Jay Bee would also burn KUScoop to the ground. They worship the crystal ball.

People QG has high potential of "running into" while on campus: Dwyane Wade, Jae Crowder, LeBron James, Jabari Parker, Giannis, Isaiah Thomas, DRose. I'm thinking Lawrence and Lexington can't offer those unique opportunities. Hoping he grew up idolizing at least one of these guys. Who knows, maybe Wojo can convince Jabari to shoot around with him.
