Coach Stan Johnson of Marquette University will be in today to see 2018 four-star guard David Singleton, per source.

6'4" class of 2018 from Torrance, California. Has offers from Oregon, Gonzaga, UConn and ASU

We are re-recruiting walk-on that left the program?!? We are in worse shape than I thought.

Earl Tatum

Sounds like Van Gordon was a top notch player. Come on Carrawell get your butt and start recruiting. Man, 6-9 255. Hope we contacted him. Johnson can't do it alone. Singleton sounds like a get. A westerner though.

Disagree, we're in great shape!

For whatever it is worth, when Wes Matthews was asked which of all the newcomers impressed him most during the Milwaukee Summer Pro-Am - he replied:  Dave Singleton.

Seriously.  I saw some clips of Singleton, and he looked pretty darn good to me - especially considering he will be walk on status.  I doubt he came to MU to ride the bench for the rest of his college career..when he was a starter as a freshman at High Point..

Just a few food for thought nuggets..

From what I heard Singleton is playing as good as any guard on the team. I realize that it is only practice but practice with Coach Williams is a pretty good measure of talent and commitment.

The Scoop search overlords chastised me for searching twice within a 5 second period once or twice, but otherwise it was all too quick to locate.  I hope Rowsey doesn't befall the same fate as those practice kings that fell before him (Singleton, Jake Thomas, Magic Dawson, etc.)

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I don't remember anyone ever saying the Thomas was tearing it up in practice. With Dawson, I remember hearing the opposite, that Derrick was eating his lunch in practice.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Wasn't Gabe Levin reportedly killing it in early workouts?

Gabe, by the way, averaged 9.5 / 5.2 in 30 starts for Long Beach State last season, w 27 blocks.
All-Big West Honorable Mention.

And Dave Singleton was the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year in 2013 when he finished his career at D3 Albright College.

Not expecting a whole lot out of Rowsey this year.  Ironically Dawson transferred to the conference Rowsey came from, and Dawson put up better numbers last year than Rowsey did in his time at UNC Asheville.

Yep.  (And Rowsey's stats were way better.)

Who cares about Dawson?

Thank you.  Appreciate the welcome back.   8-)

No one here cares to talk about Dawson, but no idea how one could conclude he was better than Rowsey off those numbers.

Not accurate.  Per this site I have placed the correct numbers for Rowsey's sophomore season in bold.

I was going off of Pomeroy's numbers.  The site you reference adds a slight bump to Dawson's numbers as well, yet like Rowsey's, they are minor bumps.

Overarching point was, is Rowsey going to be able to contribute at this level?  I'm not sure it is a slam dunk given his small stature.  He certainly won't add any value to our rebounding challenges, and in reality his shooting percentages at UNC Asheville were not that good.  He was a high volume shooter, much like what we saw with Henry last year.

Personal preference:  I'll take a basketball player who shoots the ball much better, rebounds it significantly better, and passes it much better, yet turns it over 10% more than another player - while being 4" taller and 30 lbs heavier, as we do play in The Big East.  Call me crazy.

This is a recruiting thread. We have tried very hard over the past year or so to keep it restricted to recruiting stuff. If you have a need to obsess about this topic, please refer to the John Dawson vs The World thread.

Lord, less than 10 posts and you're up to the same old s**t. Never learn, never change, I guess.

We will find out soon about Rowsey.....we already know about Dawson.

So it's just a matter of time before Ners is gone, right? Or did I miss something?

GGGG

So Ners comes back and on his 8th post brings up John Dawson - a guy whose been gone for almost two years.
