ESPN 100 Kimani Lawrence has picked up an offer from Marquette.

From a May 26th Scout article
At this point Marquette is a school that hasn't offered Lawrence, but it is a program that has definitely grabbed his attention.
"They haven't offered, but I have been talking to the Marquette coaching staff a lot," Lawrence explained. "I like Dwyane Wade, and the way they talk they come off as a staff that cares about me beyond basketball."

This is a nice gem. Sounds like a kid we want to get out there. Top 60 recruit on 247 composite.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

If we don't land another high school big man for the Class of 2017, I've got to think we'll go after a mid-season transfer or grad transfer again.

Who's the next Luke Fischer?

No one.  That was a real once in a 20-30 year deal, IMO.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Good read.  Thanks for the link.

Gacoby Jones?  From Dominican?  Anyone know of any MU interest to date?
Don't know if there is any interest, but I've known this kid since 4th grade. As nice a kid you would ever meet, always smiling. Don't think he is MU-level yet, but plays really great D and is getting better every year. Starts alongside Greg Foster Jr. for PGE and is more pure point. Coby is 6" 1", Foster is 6' 5" and really sprouting up. Was never really impressed with Foster, but he has gotten better. Doesn't really get after it like Coby, but has the height and seemingly getting taller every time I see him.

Thanks, as always, Freeport.

Wisconsin picks up commitment from 2017 guard.
Wonder how/whether this might affect Herro.

He already has the mandatory Badger haircut.

Andrew White III has trimmed his list down to 4 schools: Michigan State, Syracuse, Texas, and VCU.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

A while ago we were talking about Malcolm Bernard, a grad transfer with a gaudy stat line but poor competition (played for Florida A&M, the 350th best team in the nation per kenpom). He committed to Richmond but just announced he's back on the market.

I personally don't want him and highly doubt that we will go after him. But Xavier seems to be kicking the tires.

Looks like Xavier is hot on his trail as well.

Seems like we are competing with them on the Lawrence and Terrence Lewis front.

I like the last line of this article:

"Coach Mack and the staff are looking to shore up a potentially very leaky perimeter defense."

Maybe, just maybe, that means we have a shot at getting a win against Xavier this year.

King (I believe the 4star you are referring to) and Herro are tight and King was a badger first. That is not being recruited over. Ayo (and Kezo Brown) from Mac Irvin are "rivals" and have been looking at the same position and schollys. Herro thinks he is MUCH better than both. Just looking at the depth chart, if Herro were to sign with UW, I think he ends up getting as much PT his soph year as King and more than Pritzl if he ever gets on the floor. Herro is a much more complete player than Pritzl IMO. Pritzl doesn't have anything close to Herro's pull-up game or length.

Where I think it gets interesting is if Sam Hauser loves MU and experiences personal and team success. If Joey signs, and Markus Howard ends up being the stud point we think he can be, who wouldn't want to be a 2 in that system? I wouldn't call Hauser and Herro best friends, but they are friendly, and the most
important thing to Herro is winning. And if Happ ends up being to only decent player left at UW? Who knows? I don't think much of Schlundt or Pritzl, and I think it is entirely possible King doesn't pan out to be
stud they think he will be.

Looks like The Badgers are recruiting Ayo too.....

Just got back from NY2LA. Gard was front and center for Herro and Playground Warriors. Herro did not have a great game, but nothing close to McCabe who was awful and severely outplayed on both sides of the ball. They got twentied (game called when losing by 20 under 3 minutes). They were thoroughly embarrassed. The next game of the same court was Iowa Barnstormers. Joey Hauser is so solid and man does he run the court -- hope we can get him. Sam was watching with MU walk-on Cam Marrotta. (They had some sweet team shoes -- black/blue Nikes.)  Barnstormers destroyed SYF from Chicago.

Playground Elite 16s were cruising when I watched them for awhile. Getting more impressed with Greg Foster every time I watch him. Mac Irvin Fire 17 won in overtime. Ayo didn't look as good as he normally does, but was playing up. Justin Smith is a straight out man among boys.

Best guard I saw all night was Courtney Ramey from Ramey Jets (St. Louis) -- I watched for 10 minutes tops and he had 15 points and so smooth. He has offers from a lot of schools like Texas and Missouri. Back at it tomorrow.

Thank you.  So Playground Warriors U17 is Herro and McCabe's team?  Iowa Barnstormers U17 is Joey Hauser?  Ayo from Mac Irvin Fire 17 is an MU target?  Anybody else with any MU connections that would be worth trying to check out?

Thanks again.

No. You have the teams right, but years wrong. Herro, McCabe, Hauser are 16U. Ayo is playing on 17U this weekend because their 16U is not in this tourney. Also, Jordan Poole is playing on Playground Elite Wilson with Terrence Williams this weekend. (Poole plays mostly with Mac Irvin  except when Mac Irvin and Playground Elite are in the same tourney. Likely the reason Ayo was moved up this weekend.)
