The Equalizer

I'm not sure Marquette has had 5 players 6-9 or taller on the roster during any season in its history.

Twice in recent memory--neither a tournament team, making the point that height and NCAA tournament success are not correlated:

1997-98
Clausen 6/11
Lovette 6/10
Mueller 6/11
Shaw 6/11
Joseph 6/9

2004-05
Fitzgerald 6/9
Novak 6/10
Grimm 6/10
Kinsella 7/0
Barro 6/10

Disturbingly unathletic.

Disturbingly unathletic.

And, with a few exceptions, bad at basketball.

Any chance he reclassifies back to a '16?
Great idea. We could sign him and red shirt him. Better deal for the family that way.

Not really.  He's likely on some sort of scholarship at the prep school.  He then has another year to do recruiting and saves a redshirt in case he wants to transfer later on.

Thanks for digging this up. Impressive little bit of research.

We don't want him to go through recruiting. Get him here working out with the team taking classes etc.

Chris Grimm was a freshman on the 2003 Final Four team. He played all 4 years at Marquette, appearing in 99 career games — and scoring just 98 points. Maybe not one of our best on-court performers, but certainly one of the all-time best nicknames: The Grimm Reaper.

Grimm won that game for us shutting down Tucker. Saw his dad after that game--happiest man in the world.

Agree.  I think Heldt will be a solid Warrior who will rebound, block shots and score put backs.

The same thing goes for three point shooting. Lok at last year's three point shooting teams measured by threes made per game and they are are mostly non power six schools.

This last group here was together on the tourney team in 05-06.

That team also had 2 more at 6'8" (Amoroso for a little bit anyways and Burke) and another at 6'7" (Lott)

I didn't know Grimm. Those who did say he was a good guy and a hard worker. And y'all know I'm generally a very positive poster when discussing MU athletes.

Still, celebrating a player for having one or two impactful games in an entire college career seems a bit odd. But I guess every player has his role and Grimm did his OK.

Kind of got lost in this thread between nostalgia and random suggestions.... Is the current situation right now consisting of no desirable grad transfers available and that we are keeping the schollie open in case a late normal transfer happens later on in the year?
