Green weenie, aina?

With Parham and Owens committed, I'm not worried about this class.  Owens averaging 17 points in the PIT and Parham 16.5 in the Peach Jam.

Yup, they both are going to be Big East ready already as freshman.  Adding Kon or Sir would be amazing but if the rest of the class is just a developmental player or two, like a Josh Hill who visits later this month, we are in great shape.

Shaka there watching McAndrew as well.

I saw that tweet, but he was likely just there watching Owens.  I dont see McAndrew as a fit here.

For me, Matt Hodge> Sir Mohammed. TBH.  UAA is having a down year. Sir is good, and would be good for us in our PnR scheme, but really hasn't shot the ball well for a while. Matt Hodge really just does a bit of everything.

Also, Josh Hill is developmental, but he should be significantly close to everyone we have been recruiting than a "developmental guy". His upside and measurables are just so high.

Shaka was just watching Owens.

Owens had 23 points going 8-12 in 23 minutes, with 6 boards, 5 assists, and zero turnovers.

City Rocks and his team won by 35.

Hodge's numbers at Peach Jam are doing a bit of nothing.  Not scoring, rebounding, or assisting on anything, really.

Plays the right way. As Naismith intended.
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

I watched him for 4 minutes and he had end of game blocks. And his team is winning games.

So it ain't nothing.

Royce Parham's team, Team Durant had a rough go of things. They went 0-5 in Peach Jam, the real deal, with a -37 differential. Their first 4 games were all decided by less than 4 points. They played only 5 guys in their 4th game.

But Royce himself was pretty great. 18.8ppg and 6.8rpg should finish as a top 10 scorer in Peach Jam. Shot 53.1 fg%, 55.5% efg, and 59.5%TS%.

His teammates shot abysmally.

Without Royce Team Durant shot under 34% from the field, under 40% eFG%, and under 45% TS%.

Doesn't make his teammates better apparently... Shaka will have to work on that.

Okay. He blocked some shots in 4 minutes you watched.

At least through his first 4 games, he had made 16/49 shots, had 4 total rebounds, and 2 total assists in 21 minutes per game.

If Shaka wants him I'm good with it. He's proven he knows what he wants more than anyone else knows. But I'm not sure how one comes away unimpressed by Sir's performance but impressed by Hodge's.

Someone noted that while Hodge's numbers aren't great, he's one of the minutes leaders for one of the top teams at Peach Jam. No idea how that translates to the next level, but I understand the intangible argument from that perspective.

I watched him have the game winning block in the one game he played today. He played fine his team won, in the hardest competition in AAU. His team topped a group in Peach Jam. If you take issue with with hodge are his stats. I think its fair.

HOWEVER.

Just a quick perusal of Sir's excellent stats however, in 2023 summer AAU game with available stats, admittedly a small sample size, but larger than the peach Jam only stats of Hodge, 9 games. No box score for the Illinois wolves game, the Grand park game last night, or either of the two games play today.

Sir has made 29/86 shots. Shooting 6/28 from three. In those 9 games he has a TS% of 38%. He runs a lot of point guard
and un games where i have all box scores he averages 3.6 apg and 2.3 TO's. His team is solid, they are 11-3, but again UAA is weaker.

Based on what his coach had for the 3 games on twitter.  Sir averages 9 ppg, 5.8rbs, and 4.1 assists in total.

These stats are fine, but it isn't exactly eye catching stuff especially the shooting numbers. Honestly I think Sir is just fairly overhyped because he is one of the faces of Under Armor. Its him and Derek Queen i guess. I think shoe executives just thought he'd end up at Kentucky when he was younger by proxy.

Also, if i had to guess, I think Sir ends up and Notre Dame anyway. UnderArmour sponsor. Coach he's talked to the longest. Has had strange point guards before in picket. Sir has an opportunity to 100% play point.

Also the fact that Matt Hodge was offered by Nova, Bama, Virgina, Florida State, and Pitt  all since MU offered 10 days ago should tell you a lot. Both are similar in their versatility, Hodge just isn't a point, and Sir can be any position he wants, but he kinda insists on playing point.

It's splitting hairs but preferring hodge isn't crazy at all.
