Is MU going to over recruit scholarships again?  This will be interesting.  I see 3 for 2024, have two, who takes the last one?

Not even close? We have one vacant scholarship for next year. plus... Omax, Oso, and likely Kolek. Thats 4 available spots.

I don't think omax is staying next year, let alone for two years.

(also if the staff wanted too they could probably sign 5 and over recruit by 1)

I suspect Shaka will make a habit of over signing by one. He doesn't seem interested in the portal but he's going to be losing kids each year to it. There's 13 schollies and only 10 spots of PT; in todays age that means 2-3 transfers every year.

Very impressive for such a big kid. Seems like he would be a great fit for Shaka's system.

Shaka offered Will Garlock from Middleton today,  2025 big.  Moves really well, really coordinated for a 6'11 HS soph, which we all know is the #1 attribute Shaka looks for from his bigs.

Has anybody seen this kid play? Like the height. can he be a good rim protector? And what competition has he played against?

Isaiah Abraham and his cousin (not an MUBB target) Patrick Ngonbo are playing the Legacy Park event U17 Team Takeover this weekend as well.

I don't assume anyone comes back for their covid year.  They have to opt in, not opt out, in my mind.  By opting in, they would likely cause a domino effect of someone else leaving, thus creating the necessary spot(s).

But I don't think we have to worry about that.  O-Max might already be gone for good, but if he comes back O-Max will almost surely turn pro next year.  Oso should be positioned to go pro next year as well.  Kolek has the best chance of returning for a fifth year, but even he might be ready for a two way contract next year.  It wouldn't surprise me to see his NBA stock take off next year and maybe even get drafted in the 2nd round.

Anyway I look at it, I'm not concerned about "open" scholarships.  Rosters are so fluid from year to year, Shaka will easily get under the 13 scholarship limit somehow.

I think the transfer out are more likely to come from this year's incoming class, because they are going to find playing time hard to come by. They will not play much for two years, if our seniors use their covid years.

Shaka starts the weekend watching WI PGC 16s (Kai Rodgers, Will Garlock, Amari Allen) and then Sir's 1st game right after that.  I think its safe to say Sir is the priority for 2024 now.
